I am looking to get new spark plugs and wires for my 97 GST. I have read alot about the "name brand" wires, but as I was searching Ebay I found these that claim to have lower resistance then "name brand". This kit also comes with (4) NGK Platinum Spark Plugs. What are your thoughts and should I get this kit? Thanks for any input.

I dont know why platinum plugs dont really work well. It has just been proven over and over that NGK coppers are the best. Only reason I have at all is that the engine was designed with NGK coppers in mind.
I think Magnacore makes red wires, Im not sure. Just make sure you get a quality set of wires and not just some budget garbage.

Stay away from platinum plugs. They are garbage in turbo cars. Use the standard NGK plug for dsms and whatever color wires you want.

Platinum plugs have problems because at higher RPM, they sometimes can't remove all the heat from the spark. The tip of the platinum electrode can get hot enough to ignite the fuel before the spark in the same way a glow plug ignites diesel.

Copper is a much better conductor of heat, and reduces the chances of pre-ignition.

There are trade offs between each plug, and as it turns out, the copper plugs are better in a forced induction environment.

From the lowliest off the shelf parts store wire to $150 race wires, there are very few DSM's out there that will run any differently as long as the wires are in good shape. That's my opinion at least, a little bit of searching and you would have found this

Find one that comes in red, or paint them with a rattle can.

The only thing I can think of is a warranty, I'm sure returning those will be difficult. Otherwise I doubt you could tell a difference between them and any other set of wires.

I read that whole thing, but it said nothing about this Ebay wire, that is why I started a new thread. And if you read that thread you would of seen that there is a difference in wires.

I have them I my car. They only beef I have with them is that all of them are way to long. It you have a plug wire cover, just leave the excess under the cover and call it good. The red looks good and it is a 9mm wire, you cant beat it for the price.

As long as the wires are NEW, there's an extremely SMALL difference between a $50 set and a $150 set, most likely the diameter of the wire. Buy a new set of whatever color you want at the cheapest price you can find. Until your car starts making 1000hp at the wheels and is running 8's, spark plug wires will not affect the power of your car.

This is what I should have said. Yeah, there is a difference between wires, but no, you won't feel it. So get whatever wires you'd like and don't worry about it until they break or start becoming the weak point in your system.

I know. He wasn't getting the point so it needed to be reiterated. :thumb:
