Ebay intercooler check out

That's the old SSAC fmic kit. They used to go for $250shipped LOL.
It's long route piping kit and that long pipe goes across the front of the core behind the bumper cover.
I ran this kit , but i bought used and it worked great actually, but I paid $150complete, which is why I ran it.
Although for $350, I would maybe look at the CXRacing short pipe kit because I think its just about $50more and has had good reviews

Holy piping from hell.LOL You know, in all honesty it would probably be an ok kit for the money, but I just couldn't do that piping running across the front like that. Once the bumper is on it doesn't look like you would see it, but damn that piping is horrendous.:barf:

When the kits were $250, I think it may have been more worthwhile.
Today there are more affordable kits on the market than there was a few years back
You can't see the long pipe when the bumper cover is on.
The kit does cool the pressurized air very well from my experience.
I used to have some logs I could have posted to show the AITs:ohdamn:

I bought this kit when it just came out, a couple of years ago. As previously stated above it does the job really well on keeping the temperatures down, however, the piping is a nuisance! The core itself is awesome, but what I did was re-cut the driver side pipe the loops back to the passenger side and made it come into the engine bay from the drivers side. Because there is enough piping it is possible to make it work that way. If I were you I would install the
2g short route ebay kit onto your 1g it is possible and a hell of a better core than the cx racing core plus it's cheaper!

95 96 97 98 99 ECLIPSE FMIC TURBO INTERCOOLER + PIPING: eBay Motors (item 310219359043 end time Jun-09-10 13:48:16 PDT)

This is what I will be putting on my 1g soon, anyway there was a write up on how to install in on a 1g look it up! DO at your own risk, if you are not comfortable with fab work then the cx racing kit is probably your best bet!

haha yeahh that piping is ridiculous
i'm just looking for something around $250-$300 for a big front mount
For the time being i'm running high 13's and its proboly going to stay like that for a while so i don't really need a tear 1 product

any suggestions?

My AWD had one of those piece-of-shit kits on it when I bought it. I threw most of the piping away and sold the core on eBay for $50 just to put it out of it's misery.

I can't believe someone would actually market a FMIC kit that routes the piping so half-assed. Maybe if it was $100 new, but $350? C'mon.

The Punishment kit is what you want for your 1G:

-Consider a Supra sidemount. You can easily adapt one onto your car for less than $150 and it can handle plenty of power, sleeper look too
-Maybe an Evo8 core and diy piping ~$150 when done
-Shop around for a nice, used kit in the classifieds

FWIW, srt4 intercoolers absolutely blow and I have logs to prove that from my skittle:coy:

i've heard nothing but good from PR intercoolers but i was looking for something that was a little taller

is this the only time i am actually hearing Bigger is not better ?ROFL

the extra piping will take about .002sec more to fill, LOL

This kit cools the air very well, even though that can mostly be attributed to the core itself.
But the price has gotten out of hand these days for what it is. I think it was a decent deal at $250shipped, but $350 is too much
I even made a remark in my profile about how much piping there is, its kind of ridiculous.

no i understand performance wise it would cover me completely and then some
but i'm about to go off for college so i would like looks as well
if something bigger is going to cost me an arm and a leg then i'll definitely be purchasing the PR intercooler

love that pipe. i could put my gerbil in here and he would be in heaven.

but I have built my fmic from ebay. i used a ebay core and cxracing piping. works wonderful for under 150.

xspower actually has complete intercooler kits for $300 shipped to your door. why pay more money for a big name brand? its aluminum piping.

Why, so 75% of the core could hide behind the bumper?

You're only running an Evo III 16G; a larger core (especially a knockoff larger core) may only lead to pressure drop issues anyway.

i was going to cut my bumper to show the rest of it
this is the only "looks" aspect i'll have for my car
i'm not going to add a sweet wing or anything else like that
i just want to make sure every kid and his mother sees my intercooler
i know it sounds a little ricey but i'll live

another reason for such a large intercooler is i live in arizona, its summer (100 degrees in the shade), and i drive my car constantly (pizza deliveries)

You could get a big window sticker that says "Hey look at my sweet intercooler dude"

I think if you get a bigger intercooler your under the hood temp will rise since those big intercoolers block the air going into the radiator which will result in your egts being which can lead to knock

Thats the problem I had with my big intercooler. It was blocking too much airflow to the radiator. I'm using an ETS street core now and overheating has stopped.

I used to have this kit on my 1g and since then moved on to the short route and spool time has improved!!! All that piping was a hassle and the couplers didnt work , i had to buy my own couplers... Also cutting the bumper was a project,Honestly you are better off getting the short route Just my .02 cents
