ebay exhaust systems?

I'm impressed with that bend over the rear axle. Are you all bolting this on yourselves, and for that matter, are all the bolts included for a straight swap?

I just got mine earlier today, and I just finished installing it! Everything fit! all the welded hangars on the exhaust bolted right onto my existing rubber hangars... this exhaust sounds awesome! I have a full 3 inch downpipe eliminated catylitic converter, tubular o2 housing and this exhaust, IT is so quiet!!! You don't even need the silencer that it comes with! I recommend this! it gives you such great ground clearance too compared tomy old Xtune one! Also, I now have room for my rear lower tie bar!! here are some pictures...

If I was a speed or performance shop, I would deffinately bring these in to my shop.. I am sure they are making mad profit from these exhaust systems too! The workmanship s far as welds and bends are great! I have no regrets in purchasing this system... 258 shipped to hawaii was a good deal!

Hey does yours ever vibrate at all? Mine i think hits once in a while over the axle part. Just wondering if others have the same problem with it? I am just going to cover it with heating cover or something like that.

I just ordered the XTUNE yesterday and will get pics up as soon as possible....

Hey Ryan,

Ya, mine does hit sometimes.. and specially when my 6 puck clutch chatters, LOL.. you kind of feel a vibration type rattle through the whole car, but Its not that irritating, in fact, I think it finally stopped.. it just took some breaking in of the rubber hangars which some of them were forced in the spot which basically pulled the exhaust system against the chassis and specially where the exhaust bends over the rear suspension.... I've got all the welded hangers installed, so it is a very very tight fit.. and the exhaust barely moves...

ONE THING THOUGH, I've put about 300 miles on the exhaust already.. damn it sounds so nice and quiet compared to my other ebay exhaust which was actually 2 1/2 inch... the second muffler and resonator made a huge difference.. IT GOT LOUDER THROUGH THE MILES I PUT ON IT... I think they are packing that with some crappy fiberglass... Mine does not drone or mess with your ears during cruise, but when I down shift to come to a stop.. man.. its getting louder and louder... thats a negative on this exhaust, but other than that, it's very nice and highly recommended. LOL, if you wanna go stealth one day, it comes with a silencer anyways.. LOL

I'm going to dyno soon, and if all goes well on the dyno by my 2nd pull, I'll slap that silencer on to see how much HP drop it causes.. if it only drops like 5 HP, heck, I'll keep it on there permanently... LOL

Yes, I did install this myself, it was very easy... I didnt have to deal with the catalytic conveter STUDS that are a PITA because I don't have a cat, but it came with all the gaskets and bolts... make sure you keep your stock exhaust hanger bolts... it comes with some but they are just too long..! I did not have to do anything special to get this exhaust to fit and I was pretty impressed on the quality, it does not look cheap at all.. The system is actually very light compared to some others that I've seen. just one negative is that it gets louder as you put more miles... they can probably pack it with some better fiberglass, etc...

Can anyone comment on aluminum vs steel on a turboback exhaust? There is a link posted in this thread for that full 3" turboback NO NECK DOWNS for 2g gsx for ~$350? and comes with 3" high flow cat, slip fit install, and magnaflow muffler. Not stainless steel, but I guess if you live in cali it shoudlnt be a problem, and helps so its not as eye catching with smog/police.

Its not that. All systems change their tone after they are broken in. Did you notice that horrid smell the first couple hours of it running? Both of my greddy systems changed their sound after buying them new and even my $1200 Akrapovic full system for my GSXR1000 got a little louder after it broke in. We got a good ass deal on these setups, Im damn pleased. Only problem I had was my dumbass backed into a high curb and bent the tip :tease:

I see what you mean.. Its just the other exhausts i've owned never changed the tone so drastically after just around 400 miles of driving. The other ebay one I had without any resonators or second muffler got so loud and annoying after about 8 months of use, I pulled it out and ordered this current one. I just hope it doesn't get any louder.

I'm with you. I want a full 3" SS exhaust without any neck downs. If nothing comes up soon, I'll probably just buy the Megan exhaust.

The Megan DP's are awesome. They bolt right up, no clearance issues, and great quality. If you don't care about it being shiny under the car, buy a DP for about $130, a high flow cat if you want one, and take the car to a local exhaust shop for the cat back. I paid $125 for a cat back and was there to tell them exactly where I wanted it routed. I took out alot of angles and bends and in the end had a 3" system (turbo back minus the cat :shhh: ) for $255. The DP-back is not shiny but I don't care, neither is my car ROFL

k i installed mine the other day.. and i ran into a problem, i guess this kit was made to be bolted up to the stock cat...cause i have a n1 dp, which eliminates the cat. and 1, the flange on the exhuast was to small, wouldnt bolt up, and 2 it was too long for the dp. the flanges on both end of the dp and exhuast passed each other by atleast 2". it sucked! but i drove it down to my buddy's shop, where he cut the flange off the exhaust, measured everything up and re-welded the right flang on. now everything is good. sounds great. and i didnt have a problem with the hanger by the axles you guys are talking about.. ill try and get a sound clip later for you guys to show you how it sounds with a dp eliminating the cat

I don't care about how shiny it is, I just don't want rust. LOL

i installed this one

the fitment is average at best, the hangers are just dumb....but they will work after fooling with it for a while, mine rubs somewhere underneath, i hear it now and then and need to address it.

however the sounds is great, its quiet has a good rumble and really sounds lik an apexi exhaust, if you have patients and willing to mess with it a little its worth it.

Just got my Xtune today and i'm impressed.

It looks identical to the japanimportshop exhaust. Best thing is i got it for 180 shipped.

I'll get pics either tonight or tomorrow....

Does anyone know if the AWD x-tune exhaust is much louder than the FWD version? (I noticed the FWD version has two mufflers and a resonator and the awd does not)

Hey Shapingo....

I Had the Xtune 2G GS-T exhaust that looked almost identical to that of the second picture that you posted, but mine was for 2WD, Also was 2 1/2 piping! It was VERY LOUD compared to the one with 2 mufflers and a resonator. That is why I tossed mine and bought the new LEGITIMATE STAINLESS STEEL. The one from xtune that I got was painted and looked almost like the second picture you posted.... I am not running my Catalytic converter, so that's a factor in loudness.

Take care!

Hey Mark, how's your system holding up so far? Is it still getting louder, or is it holding steady now?

Caleb

Considering I ran over some bastard's muffler on the highway and crushed my downpipe, I took the plunge and ordered a new megan downpipe and that N1 replica from japanimport. $370 shipped, can't beat that! Only thing I don't like is the resonator garbage, but hey you can't have everything. My 272 lope should overpower it anyway hehe.

Sup Caleb,

So far so good. It's not getting any louder anymore, so its all good. BUT.... Since the system has such a TIGHT FIT and some of the piping touches the chassis, it now amplifies the vibration caused by my ripped engine mounts... I'm still pretty satisfied with the system. It's nice to have a quieter car that doesn't drone in cruise speeds.

Hey rice over wheat.. So you don't like the whole resonator idea?? do you think that having a 3 inch resonator sacrifices power? LoL.. I'm sure you don't lose too much... it's still straight 3 inches through the resonator... if anything, I would rather put a TRUE 3 inch Flange to the downpipe rather than the 2 1/2 or 2.80 inch (japan importshop claims) neckdown thing..
