ebay exhaust systems?

Damn, looks like this exhaust is great, I think I might be buying it. Just a question. I read through the entire thread, and I'm tired. But is there a link to a 2g GSX one that has perfect fitment?

Everyone so far has talked about their GST exhaust, but no GSX. Well there was one, but which exhaust to be exact? Some people are saying get this one, and others saying get that one.

Also, a megan racing downpipe for a GSX will mate right up to it?

I understood most of everything but the last few posts talked about it not fitting right.

I have the X TUNE ebay catback on my 2g GSX, only fitment was that the hanger on the muffler doesnt match up. Only problem im having so far is that it sounds like the packing material in the muffler is breaking up and at idle you can hear "choosh, choosh, choosh" as it is idling. Nothing a Magnaflow or Dejon straight through muffler cant fix.

How long have you had the exhaust on? I'm not sure I want it since the material in the muffler isn't going to last long..

On megan dp you will need to cut/weld out the neck downs where it meets the catback, but other than that I'm happy with it. Megan's fitment and quality were excellent.

Hey semprini, it's not gonna be MUCH louder, since this exhaust has the dual muffler and resonator. The exhaust now sounds about the same, if not quieter than when I had the stock downpipe, eliminated cat by test pipe and my old 2 1/2 inch exhaust w/ out the resonator and 2nd muffler. Plus, I now got a heavily ported GT manifold, tubular o2 housing, NO CAT with the system setup. I can tell you that you will feel a JUMP in power! Specially high speed, high rpm pulls! You won't even notice the increase in exhaust noise because you'll be in aww from the power gain...

Take care!

Mark
p.s. my exhaust is not getting any louder at all.. it's pretty much flattened out now.. nice tone, no droning, and very comfy ride.... IF there is a way to RE FILL THE RESONATOR AND other muffler up with better fiberglass packing meterial, I'd do it to make it even more quieter! I hope someone that's been following up on this thread with the appropriate tools can try this and let us know of the outcome! :)

I Have One Of The Xtune Cat-backs On My Gs-t. I Like It Alot But When I Put My Down Pipe On I Had To Cut The Tappered Neck And Weld A 3" Flange To It But The Fitment Otherwise Was Perfect

Review Of The JapanImportShop 2G AWD 3" SS Exhaust:

- The exhaust was shipped super fast and everything was intact and nicely packaged. It is polished very nicely and the entire pipe is all 3" with an included adapter to fit the stock cat! The only problem I ran into is that the adapter holes were not drilled large enough for the stock cat studs so I had to bore them out some, which was a pain in the ass but once that was done, everything fit great. The exhaust looks great on the car, does not have an angle out the bumper like I thought it would.

It is not loud at all, just very deep. Great tone and when revved(even in neutral) it is just an even deep sound.

I would highly recommend this exhaust to anyone! It is a great deal and very nice quality. Once I get my Megan Racing DP in the mail I will let you know how it affects the noise.

I love this exhaust!

guitarhero you didnt take any pictures of the japanimport catback before you put it on?

Ask and you shall receive. Sorry these were only taken with my phone and I was too excited to grab my actual camera and take additional pictures.

why do all of the AWD catbacks come with that adapter but us FWD kids are stuck with the 2.5 flange and no other option?

Just get a 3" flanged O2 housing. Or get a O2 flange, bolt it to your turbine housing, and fab/weld your dp up to it.

Hey guys, I thought I'd mention this to everybody in case it wasn't. I have this exhaust also, and for the last hanger on the muffler, to get to fit you need to take a bolt and run it throught the rubber and screw it into the metal hanger on the muffler.

Also... this is somewhat of a big thing as it was to me. I didn't notice anyone mention this... But if you check carefully on the inside of your muffler about 5 inches into it, you will notice it necks down pretty small. And i mean like small. I took out my dremel and cut out the excess metal that was necking down from the muffler tip on the inside....

I don't know what you're complaining about. Those are some darn nice photos your phone is able to capture. I wish my eBay piece-of-crap digital camera took those kinds of photos... :sosad:

guitarhero, nice pics, thats a nice camera on your phone.

anyways, that is a nice catback for the AWD 2g guys, its definitely better than the xtune one. Which was the only cheap ebay one for us in the past.

So since it comes with the adapter to fit on the stock cat/downpipe, if that is used will the exhaust tip stick out just a wee bit more? So if not used it is a 3" connection at the end?

Thank you.

I am guessing the exhaust will stick out just a tad farther than if you didnt use the adapter.

It is a true 3" pipe at the end if you decide not to use the adapter, this is what makes this exhaust great.

Just had to add my .02 I got the gst x-tune exhaust and it is great had it for about a year I meet up with about 10 2g gst's and I get the vote everytime for the best sound, though it is a little loud. looks excellent when you get it and for the price I would recommend it too all. looks just like the pic earlier in the post. I also use their spark plug wires that work good also. ( side note when I got the spark plug wires they were causing static with my radio for some reason until I changed my spark plugs they have been working fine since with no radio interference and they smoothed out my idle)

PERFECT that is what I wanted to confirm! Now the final question, do you have any sound clips? :)

My muffler doesn't neck down inside. It just has the resonator meshing. Also, my hanger on the muffler was nowhere near the rubber piece on my car. I had to weld a new one on it it was about 90 deg in the wrong position. I don't think our exhausts are very standardized. WTF

Weird, all my hangers fit perfectly.

Thought I'd mention that the "ss" megan dp appears to have a ss finish, because it is already turning gold and flaking. Meanwhile, the japanimport ss parts still look new. Genuine ss shouldn't flake like that after two weeks.
