ebay exhaust systems?

I ordered a BBP downpipe from optionracing. I was impressed by the appearance and how much bigger this thing was than my stock downpipe. For the most part things went together quite well but I had to elongate the bolt holes going to the o2 housing because they were too close together.

The opening at the o2 housing appeared to be 2 7/16ths as an interior diameter, close enough to 2 1/2 for me. The 2 1/2 section of pipe continues until about 3/4 of an inch after the flex section and then expands to what I assume is 3". The final section necks down to 2 3/4" and is small enough to connect to the stock catback but IMO is large enough to run with an aftermarket catback pretty well.

I am pleased enough with this pipe for the $99 that I payed including shipping. I am using this currently with a stock catback because my main use was to replace a downpipe with a bad flex section, I'll move to a catback system later and get the small section replaced.

Sound is pretty much what I expected, there isn't any droning but if I get on it a little bit I can feel it in the floor and there is a definite growl that didn't exist before, the car sounds louder but is definitely not obnoxious even to someone who does not like loud and droning exhausts.

Next thing on my list to buy is a downpipe. Maybe ebay if theres good reviews about it. My exhaust is still holding up great. At idle I can feel the floor vibrating. It's not to loud but its not to quiet, it's just right for me.

Thats awesome man, looks good. But only ONE rev for the video??? Make a new one. And its not sagging, looks good to me. Id rather it be right where you have it so it doesnt touch the bumper and start melting it :ohdamn:

The shop got the bolts off? PB blaster wouldnt get them off??

I contacted SSautochrome and I was told the following...

"Hello and thank you for the feedback, right now the item is out of stock
for 45 days and when it does come back in stock, I can see about working
out a special deal for the dsmtuners members. Thanks"

I have posted a poll to see how many people would be in for a group buy. I figure we can get that price down if we band together. Hopefully there are still some members on here that need an exhaust. RTV!

Sorry for only having ONE rev for the video. I only had :11 seconds left on my camera to video tape so I tried to atleast get something of it. I'll try to make a video of it again today then maybe tonight i'll try to get my friend to follow behind me when cruising so you can see how it sounds like.

Heres my ebay catback with both silencers uninstalled, excuse my dad working the throttle LOL. I think it sounds decent, this was right after my HKS cam install

Edit: heres an angle from the back:

Forgot to answer the other questions.

rEclipserGST: Yeah, it's not sagging. From behind it actually looks a little angled up which looks good. Even if I wanted to move the exhaust of a little I cant really adjust it anyways. Yeah, the muffler shop got them out for me. Free of charge so i'm fine with it. I torched them to pretty much a glowing red, still couldn't get them out.

Has anyone used or heard of the ebay exhaust? For the price it doesn't look bad.

ebay exhaust

Thanks,
Jason

Haven't heard of it. With all the disclaimers, it seems as though it isn't a "plug-n-play" type product. I would stick with japanimport or ssac. ssac may be having a group buy...read the post and vote. Its in the newbie section of the forums. Catback plus cat elim downpipe. redturboeclipse has a COMPLETE writeup as posted above. The exhaust you are speaking of has a lot to live up to but, according to the pics, could be a contender. If you happen to pick it up, please post pics. I, however, am sold on the SSAC.

I saw a solid piece where there should be a flex section. Is this correct? Makes me wonder how long it would last. (5 minutes before breaking something?)

First off, that is not a down pipe, it is just a part of the cat-back.

I personally wouldn't trust this model, it looks like pipes reduce down at the flanges, there is no hangers, and the shape looks slightly questionable if it will even fit correctly, also your stock cat is 3 bolt flange which this exhaust does not have!

From the looks of it, you would probably end up spending at least the "money savings" on modifying it to make it bolt up right (especially if you want to make it a true 3" system).

You may want to look under your car before spouting nonsense. Our cats are 2-bolt at both ends, 1g and 2g. The shape is spot-on with other catback systems. What part do you think wont fit?

You are probably right about the hangers but the truth is that there are very few catback systems that do no neck down where they meet the downpipe. Getting that problem fixed is very easy and should cost about $30 at an exhaust shop. For less than $100 they will probably add hangers, remove the restriction, and put it on for you.

I believe that there was someone who bought this or a very similar catback who responded in the ebay exhaust thread with a positive experience.

I always did custom at an exhaust shop for all my cars....you got it right, you dont have to do anything and it doesnt cost much...at least mine....full 3" /w garrett 4bolt flange and W/B o2 thread $200.

Ive used a lot of ebay piping kits being intercooler or exhausts and they usually work great. They use cheaper piping that will rust after a while so thats where the savings come in. My intercooler pipes has rust on them within two days of installing. They are about 2 years old now and still look the same. Just a few little rust spots.

Yea I wouldn't buy it because in the description it says direct ''bolt on''..well as you can see it don't have hangers. So I wouldn't trust much of what he says period.

Huh? The hangers are there. Not as many as stock and not quite the same style but it does have hangers. And by the looks of it, it is a bolt on affair. I can definitely tell that it will bolt directly onto my 2g with little or no mods required.

No flex section, weird bends, no hangers....
i dont think it looks that great...
