ebay exhaust systems?

This site may earn a commission from merchant affiliate links, including eBay, Amazon, and others.

that turbo exhaust i posted. Seems like a really good deal. he said he would do 180 plus 100 bucks shipping!looks very well made. any thoughts?

to tell you the truth i never asked?the guy seems pretty cool though, im sure he would work something out. I planned on just buying a nice dp and then making my exhaust out of 3 inch stainless because i have a true greddy evo2 muffler. But i only have a mig welder and no tig so i decided against it.

Ok, first off I'm new here, so Hello everyone. I own a 98 GSX.

Second, I'm really confused about the downpipe, and whole exhaust set-up. Its goes from the turbo > downpipe > Cat/testpipe > cat-back exhaust like this one?

Thats just random ebay exhaust parts, but would something like all bolt together with minimal problems? I've heard the most downpipes neck down to fit stock cat, and then after the cat, ei. the japanimportshop cat-back system, start small to fit the stock cat and the grow to 3". What if I get that 3" cat? Cat eliminating downpipe?

Then theres juicyjems, who sells an excellent system as well: Link
What is that Adapter for then if its a turbo back system? but still 300 shipped compared to roughly 170 shipped for the japanimportshop cat-back.

All-in-all I want the japanimportshop exhaust system, but what goes good in front of it? I want a full 3" exhaust with no downsizing for stock components from turbo back. If it downsizes to 2.75" ish, would that even matter?

I think I'm over-thinking haha.

I have the catback from Japanimportshop. Im looking into getting a downpipe and high flow cat. How much of a difference will I see with just upgrading the dp and cat? Im looking at the megan dp's and Id have the neckdown section cut out and replaced with all 3"

I had a apexi 3in turbo back exhaust but whoever welded it on did a shitty
job and it always hit the road,
i unbolted it where the cat would be and am going to take it to
a muffler shop and have them weld a pipe on with my apexi tip would this work out or
should i buy the pipe custom?

My friend's been running one for some time now and he enjoys it,especially the money he saved from not going with a r&d thermal. I'm tempted to step up and order one when taxes come in.

I already got my refund back. :D So juicyjems turbo-back system is looking... well juicy. Excuse my sense of humor. I would imagine you would see improvements in overall performance of you car, especially if turbo charged. Just with an aftermarket downpipe and cat/test pipe, I've seen people say their turbo spools quicker due to less restriction.

I would say go for it, looks like a quality product from the pictures. As for the ricey comments, that won't be an issue, if anything it will be decently quiet with the 2 resonators built in.

It looks like cheap shit with too many bends which causes restrictions. Personally Apexi/HKS/Greddy it just for their name. Just go to an exhaust shop and custom built a straight pipe exhaust for real performance.

Yeah it actually doesn't look bad. I'm not a fan of buying performance parts on ebay just because I am always a little skeptical but this seems decent. Since you are buying it for so cheap and it is ebay you may run into fitment issues but it's a hit or miss. If you don't like it I'm sure you could always sell it.

^ Agrees. Get a apexi n1 or hks.

i currently have a hks super dragger, but i dont think it is a true 3". paid over $500 for it a few years back, mannnn, things got much cheaper for our cars.

thanks for the link to japanImportshop, may check them out. for only $169, i will sell it or trash it if it sounded like shit

Last year I installed a system very similar to the one pictured on a buddy's '03 Evo. The system had (2) resonators and was full stainless. It cost $283 shipped, and included a downpipe and a test pipe to eliminate the cat.

The exhaust sounds incredible, and is still shiny at the rear of the car to this day- the downpipe is discolored, but there is no rust on any of the piping.....just a little bit of rust on the flanges. The Evo is his daily driver, and gets driven in all weather conditions.

I would go for it for sure. It's 3" so you know it's going to flow well regardless- too many bends being restrictive isn't really an issue on a street-driven car. If you get a system made at an exhaust shop to go under the axle on your GST, you're going to drag it turning into any parking lot. For a street car, I would choose fitment and price over functionality.

Look at it this way....$69 plus shipping or $350+ plus shipping. Most of the little things on ebay work great for the prices.
