ebay exhaust systems?

This site may earn a commission from merchant affiliate links, including eBay, Amazon, and others.

hahaha my car just has straight 3'' pipe... straight from the motor. i had a cat on there just for the visual inspection in cali to get it registered but since i dont really need it i took it off again. so yeah i got a 1g brand new cat if anyone wants it LOL. o yeah my car is VERY loud. i love it LOL

How Good is this exhaust? I have been looking at it for awhile but i am worried about it getting rusted easily, or the hangers not being in the right place. Anyone have this exhaust? If you do what do you think?

i bought this same one off the same guy for 135 shipped, and i haven't put it on yet because i'm waiting on a downpipe, but from the looks of it i think the hangers aren't on right, but then again, i dunno.

I ordered my Tsudo N1 from eBay and the hangars were perfect. Had to modify nothing. The megan dp I got did not eliminate the cat though. Which I thought it did.

RRE's high flow cat with the downpipe claims it can only bolt up to the Apexi N1 style catback and some other catbacks but I'm focusing on the N1 here. Now there are a couple of "N1 style" catback ebay exhausts. Would these bolt straight onto RRE's high flow cat?

So I purchased the Japanimportshop catback for my GST. Although not installed yet I have a few observations to share for anyone who is considering this exhaust. Overall the exhaust looks very nice and for the price I think it would be hard to beat. You can see pictures of it on the first few pages of this thread. 3" is actually the o.d. of it, the i.d. is about 2.84".

Her you can see where it necks down to 2.25" at the end that bolts up to the cat. I lined it up with my RRE "EVO style" long DP for comparison. I will be cutting off the neck down portion and replacing with a 3" section.

My biggest complaint is inside the muffler. When I removed the silencer I noticed a collar welded into the muffler towards the exit side. I think it's purpose is to secure the narrow end of the silincer which slides into it. The diameter here is 2"!WTF In this pic looking down the throat of the muffler you can see the collar. It looks to be spot welded on at 5 points.

Looking deeper into the muffler you can see that the muffler is 3" throughout (the mesh portion) if not for the collar.

I plan to grind down those spot welds and remove the collar to make the system full 3" unless someone knows something I don't about why it needs to be there.

BTW, the price of this system has come down to $153 (includes shipping).

HHmmm.. weird, mine came with a coupler that bolts on to the exhaust and the stock cat, so when I get a DP or 3in cat I just unbolt the coupler from the exhaust and its full 3inch.. I didnt check the muffler on the inside but ill take a look and see if its like yours..

Here is minehttp://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/bolt-tech/279794-thumbs-up-ebay-catback.html

Thats funny, my exhaust from japanimportshop for a FWD has no collar in the muffler...

WTF It's interesting how some guys earlier in this thread said that one of the hangers was way off and others said that they all lined up perfectly. These are all 2G FWD guys. I guess the exhaust systems might have been made in different batches/runs maybe by different manufacturers.

so the outlet is really 2" through the canister?

Yes, but like I said it doesn't look too difficult to grind down the spot welds and remove the collar.

read my earlier posts in this thread,, it looks like the ebay exhausts are not all the same.

Here is one we got for a GST, both downpipe and catback are from ebay..

here is where the downpipe connects to the start of the catback:

you could see it doesn't neck down as drastic as the pics romeen shows, i believe someone measured it at another site and its 2.75, not enough difference for us to spend more money to get .25" more. Ours also did not have that thing he speaks of in the muffler..

buy wisely then..

dont mind the dirty catback piping..

Do you recall if the one pictured is from Japanimportshop?

It does seem like there is some inconsistency in what you get, even when purchasing from the same seller.

Nope, I am certain they are not from Japan Imports, I was the one who ordered em. Unfortuantely I forgot the seller name. Actually I ordered each from 2 different sellers.

i bought my ebay exhaust about 5 months ago now, its the x-tune 2.5 inch for my awd talon 91. I was also pretty happy with it, sounds good, performs well also, it was 185 shipped, i say go for it:thumb:

I am looking for a cat-back for my car, I have a megan dp, 2.5in O2 housing with dump tube, fp race mani, 1mm oversized ss intake and .5mm oversized evo exhaust valves, bc 272 cams, springs and retainers.... I am looking at getting this exhaust

(eBay Motors: 95-99 ECLIPSE GST TURBO TALON CATBACK EXHAUST 96 97 98 (item 280193979994 end time Jan-27-08 02:37:32 PST))...

I have three questions...
1. Will this bolt up to my megan downpipe?
2. With my mods, will the silencer really make much of a difference?
3. Am I going to need to watch out for car alarms?:sneaky:

I have that same exact catback. I have it bolted up to a Megan downpipe. It bolted right up no problem.
The silencer does make it quieter but I never left it in as it is much more restrictive.
My car is definitely pretty loud. I have a 2.5" o2 housing, 3" Megan downpipe cat delete, and the the 3" catback exhaust. Sounds great. I have some BC 272 cams as well which help with a nice mean sound but sounded great before cams as well.
