I had an ebay catback exhaust on my old gst. Bolted up great and fit good. For something like a catback exhaust, I'd pay $80 for it.

As long as you have a stock cat. your good to go, you can have a custom exhaust and pass smog

Cops here don't really enforce that, as long as its long
LOUD. How much do you guys think it'll cost me to just buy a muffler and go to a muffler shop and have them do 2.5 piping?

It would cost you more to go to a shop to do it. I say grab the $80 one from the local guy, toss it on, and post pics/vids.

It would cost WAY more to do a custom job bro. Just order the ebay one if you're not worried about passing smog. I'd keep the stock one around though just in case...

I have the SRS as well and the only downfall to it is the welded in silencer on my 3" exhaust. The silencer takes it down to about 2.25 at the very end

I don't see the point of risking tickets and headaches by putting an exhaust system on a n/a car. You won't see any gains, you may lose power, and it will sound annoying.

what makes you think he won't see any gains? any and all car benefit from a bigger exhaust. you just shouldn't go to big on a n/a car because you'll lose some of that back pressure that they need and that will make it lose power

Decades of working with cars, reading, and listening to experiences from others. An $80 exhaust on an n/a platform unless higher priced and properly researched and designed will generally NOT show any gain and may even show losses on many cars. I've seen dynos prove this several times on several different cars and it happens very often. Don't make blanket statements like:"ANY AND ALL CARS". Many cars DO NOT benefit from a bigger exhaust. There is a lot more to exhaust dynamics than size.

i agree with what your saying but you didn't specify that you where talking about the $80 exhaust all you said was "you didn't see a point in putting an exhaust on n/a car cause you won't see gain" I might have over stepped saying any and all being that there are cars that came a well researched exhaust stock and anything else would hurt the performance but more often then not that's not the case and a good opening up of the lungs will produce more power.

I still dont' see the benefit of putting it on an n/a platform like the 420a. There simply isn't much benefit from an exhaust on this engine. If we're talking about an n/a z06 or a high revving bike or s2k, then yeah- an exhaust may help- VERY LITTLE. I saw only about 15hp from an expensive catback on my zo6 and 10 from titanium system on my old s2k. Not worth the money. Money would be better spent on exterior/interior mods, tires, suspension, cai, maintenance etc. Not a fart can on a slow car.

well its part of the looks of the car too. you can't tell me that a non-stock tip or muffler on a car doesn't make you look for the noise even if its to say that sounds like ish

Welded in silencer? Mine is removable, but it does get a little smaller.

129shipped bomz exhaust sound great..... thats ones good might as well have the full exhaust jsut a muffler sound sucks RICY ......full piping get you a deaper sound

I don't care for any hp gains, i just like the look of a car with it on.
But yeah I didn't buy it, the tip was 5 inches! That was just too much. So i went ahead and bought an n1 style muffler and just gonna go the the muffler shop and have them weld it but make it so its angled.

Yea, There is the removable silencer, then the part that gives it the "tone" that is the part that is way too small of a hole. I think they put it in all of their exhaust thats why its so small, so it makes a difference on the 2.5" exhaust. I've tried to get out, but no luck (yet) .
