Okay so there a bunch of dsms around where i live that are all running similar setups built by a certian individual. They are using ebay 50 trim turbo, manifold, fmic, bov and wastegate. Then they are just using a set of 1000cc injectors and an afc to tune. I jsut curious about this though because it goes against almost everything talked about on this site. I mean these cars are fast don't get me wrong, but how much power can they really making and how reliable. My main point is here there throughin like a 1000 bucks worth of ebay stuff in their cars and being fast. THen i'm totally all kinds of parts up from buschur and slowboy and i'm at 10k and counting.

When the lifetime of your car/parts is double-triple theirs you will understand why you invested so much more and you will be thankful. IMO

1000cc and a SAFC? Good luck.

And think about this. Youll buy it once, their gonna be buying it over and over again.

Im not trying to be all against eBay, I LOVE eBay and thats where I get most of my parts. But I dont buy the crap made out of plastic and made in Khina. (Yes not even China)
Get the real stuff just at a good price.

Basically, be happy, buy the right parts to make yourself fast, and dont look back. Youre shit is gonna be way more impressive than anything they have. Any kind of engine guy will notice that ;)

That kinda what my whole theory is anyways sure there are some things you can do cheap but when it comes to turbos, internals and tuning there shoudln't be any shortcuts.
I right now i'm looking at having my setup done by next year its a lot of money but 1g talons are my favorite car and in the end i think it will be worth it.

It will be worth it,

Fast and cheap wont be reliable

Reliable and fast wont be cheap

You shouldn't, but people have and have been pleased with it. For example, the people that run 11.x's and even 10.x's with a nearly stock setup. You really can't get much cheaper than that.

I've seen 11 second cars put together with donated junkyard parts that race season after season. I've also seen built bottom ends destroyed by brand new garret ball bearing turbos blowing up on the dyno. They are both rare, but they both exist.

I will say this, when you pay good money for your parts, #1, you know exactly what you are getting, #2, when it breaks, you're gonna get someone who speaks english to help you and replace it for you if it's the parts fault. For my builds right now, I'm trying to see what I can get away with (which apperently isn't much!). When I have money after school it will be a completely different story.

Ebay turbos, while not the greatest pieces of machinery, are proving to be hit and miss on durability. Many of them are to new to have any sort of durability issues show up as well. It's only been a big phenomenon for the last 2 or 3 years if I remember right. Again, I've seen the compressor split in two, and I've seen people that have them and love them and go back for more.
