Another update :

Well car has been running with no issues so far (aside from one coupler popping off). There is still zero shaft play on the turbo. Owner was supposed to have some dyno numbers yesterday, but turned out his clutch switch hasn't been tapped correctly for his KeyDiver chip, so car woudn't rev past 5500. Sean (from Full Function) coudn't dyno it. Once that switch is fixed, it's going back on the dyno with 100 octane gas and aqua-mist water/alky injection. I'll post the results.

Meanwhile, the car is now sporting a rollcage after our last 'encounter'. Here are some pics if anyone's interested:

As for the comment on that bend, that everyone seems to love or hate, think about this:
Extreme PSI short-route street core FMIC has 90* endtanks, which means air hits a wall at full speed, twice. That kit is still more efficient then long-route piping. That bend directs air into the FMIC at MUCH smoother angle then 90* endtank, so do your math.
 
Yea, we already shut a lot of people up with the XS/SS Autochrome FMIC. Again a turbo is obviously more risky, but if someone is pulling it off, more power to them, and if this thing actually holds up well and puts down some decent number, wow, what is the aftermarket scene coming to!?!
 
That's for sure, Because ALOT of vendors may lose business.. At least I would think. Just take a look at how many people ACTUALLY bought the xs/ss fmic 2g kit! I know I did, You did, Luis (greddygst) did, And that is just in this thread alone.. ALOT of people bought it!

Not so much lose business as stop ripping the rest of us off.
 
That is the whole concept of a free market. Unfortunately for us, we don't reside in that type of situation. I doubt company's like AGP or PTE will lower their prices to compete with a shodtree company that deals on eBay only. Their emphasis on the highly priced products is that you are spending a little more to get a better quality product. If they were to lower their prices, that would only imply that their products aren't quality enough to warrant their products. It's just a catch 22.

they have a website, its ssautochrome.com or something. they don't only deal on ebay, its just all their prices are cheaper on ebay and you would be stupid to buy it on their site.

anyways, just thought I would add that my friend with an m3 has been looking at turbo kits for a while, and sent me a link to one he found for 5k. It looked pretty solid, then I noticed that it uses the ssautochrome 3 inch intercooler, and mentioned it to him. his reply

My friend with a civic coupe just bought a turbo kit like this off ebay, Including EVERYTHING fmic and all, For what $800 or something like that? He bolted it on, Downloaded some free thing for hondas where he can burn chips, And tuned the car. He ran a 13.4 @ 108mph his first time ever racing it with a 2.3 60ft.... Stock engine etc etc.. Full weight, Spare tire/tools etc etc also. Not bad for a fwd car, And $800 invested, If you ask me. I'm sure the car will be into the 12's in no time! And yes, There is proof for anyone that will try to start shit(There is always someone in every thread).
 
well, i have the pacesetter exhaust manifold well had for about 2 months and besides the immediate paint burning and the gasket blowing out its pretty solid i also have an ebay 3" o2 housing with ext dump, also great shape , ebay maft, ebay fmic (just put that on 2 hours ago :thumb: ) i bought the intercooler for about 90$ shipped its 27x5.5x2.5 , (bigger then it sounds) and i got intercooler pipes couplers and clamps for 23$ shipped , they were used and the kids car apparently caught on fire so some pipes were a little burned. but i hid those ones ;) ill get some pictures of my car, half of my car is probably ebay, hell i bought the accual car off of ebay, flew to colorado and drove it back , now thats quality :thumb:

<B>DEFINATLY WORTH IT</B> you could spend 800$ in intake exhaust and a chip and be nowhere near 13's . ebay is such a great deal IMO.
 
We had a chance to do some rought tuning with methanol, and I was pleasantly surprized. The thing broke traction at the top of 2nd and in general, pulled like a raped monkey, my butt-dyno estimates high-mid 12s on the track withoutany fine-tuning. Once tuned properly, I don't dare to estimate anything. I just hope it holds up. Looks like there is local dyno day coming up on 20th of may, so will see what actual numbers show.
I also inspected the turbo again, and found zero shaft play and all gaskets intact. So far so good.
 
I don't plan on getting one of these knock-off manifolds, since I already have a cast SBR waiting to go on (another topic), but I did order a ssautochrome external dump O2 housing that I'm waiting for to arrive.

Buschur did some dyno testing, and just for fun, threw on one of the ebay O2 housings. They picked up 12ft/lb and 13 hp (or did I get it backwards?).

Not sure what are you interested in specifically, but boost is controlled by regular MBC (turboXS single stage), with wastegate spring at 11psi, total boost (when I test-drove it) was around 20 psi. Don't know where it is now, as I haven't seen the car for about two weeks now (except for the owner rolling by for more of his 'fix' - methanol ROFL )
