Easiest way to switch VIN tags

I switched my nice dash from my GS-T to my GSX yesterday and I found a real easy way to switch the vin plates. Get a sodering iron, let it get real hot and press it to the back of the rivet. Since its riveted to plastic it just melts right out without messing anythign up. For installation holf the rivet with plyers or something(becasue it gets hot) and press it into the new hole with the sodering iron. Since the rivets are melted back in they will stay in the dash good and you dont have to glue them or anything. It makes things stay clean looking too.

It's a good thing you did that too. I swapped a dash out on an old eclipse I had and didnt even think about switching tags. Low and behold, I was pulled over, the cop tried to match the insurance card with the vin and my car had to sit for a month, a secretary of state employee had to come out and inspect my car, then I had to file for a special reconstruction title. It was more BS than I could handle.

Hmm...I thought that too, but didn't wanna piss anyone off. My guess would be that he did not.

I read it, just didnt think of the dash having to do with the vin, my bad. My first thought with switching the vins was bad.

Ya the vin is riveted to the dash which is kinda dumb in my opinion. My firebird VIN is engraved into the frame under the winshield. But the dash in my GS-T was perfect and the dash in my GSX was really crappy so I switched them and since my GS-T has a certificate of destruction, i had to switch the vins too.
