Easiest way to remove entire head and manifolds

i just ordered a new 2.4l built block to go in my car. I am wanting to swap over the entire head including everything attached. Are there any brackets holding it to the block or to anything else? Basically i want to unhook the exhaust and intercooler pipes, remove head bolts and pull it straight out of the bay. Then reverse for reassembly into the new engine!

As far as I can remember the only thing would be the intake manifold support bracket.

Original vehicles have a bracket on the back side of (or underneath) the intake manifold that bolts to the block.

Also be aware of coolant lines running from the turbo, oil filter housing, and heater (through the firewall) to the thermostat housing as well as vacuum lines (brake booster), radiator hoses, the water pipe, fuel lines, the harness, and the timing belt.

Other than that, the easiest way to remove the head with both manifolds is using an engine lift, safely holding the intake and exhaust manifold, to break the head gasket seal between the head and the block, and then finally to maneuver the head away from the car.

For sure. You could probably even get to it from the top. There are 2 blots holding the bracket to the intake manifold and 1 holding it to the block. I believe that all three are 14mm.

When I do this kind of removal, IE, one that just needs ripped apart quickly. I remove IC pipes from tb, downpipe, IM top bracket bolts, head bolts, and the main water line. Just leave the timing belt in there, and slide it off the gears. Ive had heads of in as little as 20 minutes. Its going to make the install a lot harder and drawn out that it needs to be, but thats ok. If it wasnt, it wouldnt be a dsm.
