I am trying to pull the block (head is off already) and tranny out of a 90 tsi awd. What is the easiest way of getting the block and tranny out, possibly a way around having to remove both driveshafts, or an easier way to get them out?

Take off the t-case. Unbolt the struts from the steering knuckles via the two bolts. Pull the top of the steering knuckle toward the outside of the car to remove the axle from the transmission. Pull out the engine and transmission as a whole. It's pretty easy.

Same way I do mine. Just don't it's easier to get the passenger axle out once you take the bottom cover plate off to pry the axle out so you don't tear it up trying to just pull it out.

Whats the procedure of T case removal? We will be trying to get this off as easy as possible and quickly so all the right info helps!

It might be easier to pull it out from the bottem. What Ive done is put the car on stands, pull off the crossmember under the trans, take the axles out like the others have stated then lower then engine and transmission to the ground. That way its easier to get at the t-case bolts as they can be pretty tight and hard to get to with the motor still in place. Unbolt t-case and trans then pull the motor out the top.. It might seem like a lot, but it really beats trying to fish both the block and trans out the top.

if you take a 1/2 17mm socket and wratchet and take the 5 bolts off the transfer you can pull it to the driver side and down and just pull thedrive shaft out and move it to one side so you can let the motor drop out! easiest way!

Exactly.

oh please god dont drag it the oil pan and pump will be GARBAGE. take 2 minutes and find 2 boards and lay them on top of the legs of the hoist and lay it on there gently and jack the car up til you can pull the hoist out!!! COMMON SENSE!

Just pull it out from the top. It is the easiest/quickest way to do it. Leave the transmission attached and do what I have already mentioned. It won't take me more than 30 minutes to get the motor/tranny out from start to finish like this.

Drop it out the bottom. That way you don't have to haul an engine lift to the junkyard.
Only because you are taking everything else.

Ill do it from the top, because it just seems easier. Once the axles and t case are off, is there anything else I can remove to make pulling it out easier?

Ill stick with a cherry picker haha. Whats a good spot to lift the motor from? I could stick the head bolts back in and lift it from there, unless theres a better spot?
