ok, here is the deal....i have a 96 auto gsx that spun a rod bearing...all i want to do is to get the car running to sell...its only got 112k on it and everything else is in good shape...and no i WON'T sell it for cheap broken(i've been asked several times)...so my question is what would be the cheapest and easiest way possible to get it running again???
thanks!!!

probably find a cheap *running* 7 bolt long/short block. Changing bearings is going to be hell especially if you have never done it...or if you take it to a shop they will rape your checkbook.

thanks! thats what i figured, but do i need to get one from a 96, or will any year 7 bolt work?? im trying to make this as painless as possible, and don't want to later find out that i have to spend extra money to use an engine from another year

oh, and i also have another question....does it matter if the motor came out of a 5-speed car? sorry if this is a stupid question, LOL

OK ...no it dosen't matter if it's a 5speed you will have to switch the torque converter from you automatic and also you can use any year from 95 to 99 you will probally have to use some sensors 96gsx engine but nothing big..

i just spun a rod bearing #4 slight rap a 3k . crank looked pretty good rod and cap looked good to. Still saw part#on the back of the bearing just installed new rod berings been ok for 2 weeks now close call. Just caught it quick and got lucky might be worth checking it out depending on how bad it is
