stupid me locked my keys in my car. went to use the cig lighter in my car cause i forgot my lighter, left my keys on the seat, locked the door then closed it. :ohdamn:

what's the easiest way to "break in" i guess, without damaging anything? i've done it before but i want to know if anyone else found an easier way than using a coat hanger?

im just trying to avoid asking my boss to lend me his car to run back to my house and get the spare. i get off at 6am so please help! thanks.

I once locked myself out, my car was running, and my window was down abit but not enough to get my arm in, so i took off my windsheild wiper and flicked the lock over, haha.

haha the exact same thing happened to me. Used the rear windshield wiper blade.. worked like a charm.

I have a friend who got locked out of his car once while it was running and he broke the window to get in... worked like a charm too I guess.

i locked myself out and i was able to get in with a coat hanger. I pulled out the window enough to get in then used the coat hanger to press the power locks. You can try pulling the inside handle but you need something tougher then the coat hanger. Have a friend with roadside assistance with you. Get them to call.

I just don't bother locking it.

This. Nobody steals DSM's, and if they did, they prob wouldn't get too far. One of the owners of my company always said, "if they can get passed the twin disk, the lopey idle, ill most likely be at the car ready to punch them in the face, before they get anywhere." Hahaha

Why does it seem so many people lock their keys in their car, frequently? I have had it happen once in 6 years of owning vehicles.

Key in the wallet defiantly.. Also good for when you drive some girl home form the bar late at night an purposely lock your keys in to stay the night... Wake up early and get outta there.. LoL

if you do it that often get a hide a key and put it under the car

I know a lot of people suggest this, but I would not recommend it. Makes it easy to steal your car if a thief checked the usual places for one to be placed/hidden. All it would take him is a quick feel in the wheel wells and the underside with his hand and your car's gone. Key in the wallet is probably best if you really NEED to have a second one on your person.

You know what else makes it easy to steal your car? Having a public "steal my car DIY thread" for all the internet to have.

Can we delete this now?

I understand its easy, but can we atleast make them work for it?

a bit paranoid, but i can see where your coming from. especially living in chicago, i guess thats a concern. i know for sure i will never leave my dsm unattended downtown STL.
