I am wondering if any of you guys have any ideas about running E85 and compression ratios higher than 9 to 1? Suggestions about how to safely do so? And whether pump gas or 100 octane would be better options to run with slightly higher compression ratios?

Check out Magnus Motorsports. They've done high compression builds (up to 15:1) although I don't know how high they've gone with E85. I know that Ethanol handles boost better than the pump gas. Before switching your car over to E85, look and see what gas stations carry it. Buy 1 gallon containers full from each store that has it and have it tested somewhere for ethanol content. If its lower than 75%, I'd say its not worth even trying.

testing is a good idea... unfortunately, the ethanol percentage can vary from week to week at the same gas station... your best bet is to do some research on the regulations of e85 in your area.
