dyno tune stock car?

Will I get any horsepower gains and would it be worth the 200 bucks . I have just installed a new engine and transmission its completely stock cyclone 4g63t in a 92 talon tsi

Do you have anything to tune with? Link, AEM, ect? There is always power to be made from the stock tune. Do you plan on keeping it stock or upgrading later on down the road? Either way, with a fresh engine that seems worth the time and money to me.

It is just that...they are testing power output of your motor, not changing the stock tune of the car. Me personally, definitely not worth $200!

If you don't have any way to modify your stock ecu for a tune, ie safc, gm maf, dsm link etc, then they have no way to tune it anyway. So they would be lying to you...

200 just to get it on a dyno? thats steep. There are few places that do a dyno day and useally they run like 50 bucks for 3 pulls

Other than the price, I'd say go for it. I would love to have baseline data for my car, a "beginning" so to speak. If I had the money I'd dyno test between each minor upgrade I do, just to see the results.

Might aswell buy dsmlink now, as your tuning it before mods, you're bound to want to retune later. LinkV3 allows you to control boost, so you could play with 12 until you open up the intake and exhaust -then bump it to 14 and retune,

-Can monitor everything
-Control boost


Base Tune ~ 200(ops number 3runs + tuner)
Boost Controller ~80
New tune after mods ~200
$480(But not able to monitor, and need a shop to tune again, for compensating as you mod)

There are other tuning devices than link. I run a emulator and tune real time running speed density. I payed less for it than link. I also purchased a laptop for tuning and still less than the price of link. Link is pretty amazing. but I can tune faster and with a lot less messing around with settings here and there. I can also control boost aswell. Just got in my MAC 3 port valve so that I can start to do it.

OP look around of other dyno as well and see if there having a dyno day soon. May be worth the wait.

Those prices are definitely outrageous for just 3 pulls agreed most shops are doing them with out dyno days for 75 here in va but hardly any was dynos and maybe they are getting that much because of a monopoly get something to time with and do your research

This. Without a way to tune the car, there's no way to tune the car. They are probably assuming you have some kind of tuning device already.
