Saw this wire protector with a hole in it exposing the wire. Didnt know what the wire was for, so I follow it to this cluster which is being held together by the orange cap (?)

Im not sure what all these wires are for, and why they are rigged together like this.

Also, notice in one of the pictures that a black housing is cut open to expose wires, and there is a wire that is not attached to anything. It is the black one that is sticking out unattached.

What the hell is going on here?! I dont have any electrical problems, or any problems with the car at all!

I do know that the previous owner had a HUGE system in the car, could this be what is going on her

Also the last picture is from the bottom of my intake. I think it is the MAF. Seems liek there used to be some kind of rubber piece that has been chewed through? D:

First picture looks like its the harness for the o2 sensor. As long as the wires arent damaged you should be fine.

And the second picture with the wire nut looks like its for the stock coolant temp gauge. Id solder it back together and make sure your the coolant gauge on your stock cluster works.

Cant really tell what the last picture is.

Last picture is the underside of the MAF. The little hole used to be solid with some kidn of rubber piece, and it looks like someone cut it out to access something on the bottom.

As for the wiring, my car stays cool and the temp gauge seems to work fine, should I even mess with it? Sometimes when im on the highway the car will actually go DOWN in temp on a cold night and wont stay at operating temp, is that a problem?

The bottom of the mass airflow sensor is suppose to have a silicone type compound in it. Underneath it is a screw that adjusts the sensor.

Completely normal! More nice cold air is hitting the radiator bringing the coolant temp down nice n good. If you ran at operating temp on the highway, that would be a little weird. If you're having issues getting to operating temp, could be a malfunctioning thermostat.

So shoudl I mess with that wiring at all?

Also, can I wash and spray down the engine bay with those wires exposed like that?

What's your coolant mixture? Running mostly water or significantly more water than antifreeze will do this. My car seen 136* once on a cold morning and would go far down when my heater was on high. Till i changed to mixture to a more 50/50 state. Antifreeze is more stable than water as water heats and cools faster.
