I don't understand why people insist our cars didn't come turbo'd out of the factory..

Nothing special but.. im pull into bp the other day to get gas, while it's filling, i'm washing my windows. This younger guy who works there comes up to me...
guy:nice car, mitsubishi?
me: yep
guy: does it have anything done to it? i heard the catback exhaust while you were coming in.

don't know where he got that from.. considering I have a turboback.

There's also this kid who is my age, 18, and just bought a 2009 civic si. I'm almost certain he bought it just to be cool and get friends because he knows absolutely nothing about the car. He always asks for me to teach him things about cars and I just tell him read online, he doesn't bother. He always SAYS(not asks) things like.. "I was looking at intakes but didn't want to order a CAI because my engine will blow up." or "Yo, what brand bov could I find for my car?"

Dumbest thing I heard from a a non DSM'er was when I had a '89 Dodge Shadow ES turbo when I was in Highschool. This kid who was wicked into "American Muscle", mind you at the time he had a 1982 Chevy Monte carlo V6. Anyways I popped my hood and he went " holy shit this things twin turbo" and pointed at my strut towers .

plus one for a shadow owner/ x owner! mine has the sohc 6g72.

anyways, a buddy of mine happened to own a 2g NT and looked at the sticker on the hood of my duster (Plymouth version of shadow ) and he read it as "3 liter v six over head caster.


i said, caster. whats a caster???

A kid from school was talking about his truck, and how fast it is. He said its an extended cab 5.9 R/T. He went on about how quick it is, and I overheard him and it sparked my interst.

Me: "So what all do you have done to it?"
Him: Well it's got a 12 inch sub, an alpine deck (he might have misunderstood me), a K&N intake and a flowmaster 40 series exhaust. It's pretty damn quick".
Me:.....
Him: "What you runnin in that burner of yours hahahaha"
Me: "Just a stock turbo, basic bolt-ons at about 16psi."
Him: "That's it?"
Me: "Yeah. . . . So do you want to run 'em? I'm heading out to speedworld in a couple of weeks and I'll race for some cash if your interested."
Him: "I don't know man, it sounds pretty fast (in a very joking, sarcastic way)
Me: .....

A week ago, a friend of mine was at a party and he happened to be there.
Him: "Tell your friend with the rice rocket that I will smash on that thing! It won't even be close!"
My buddy: " . . .Ok Ill tell him..."

I see him in class this morning, and ask him when he want's to run 'em for some $. He starts going on about how I'm wasting my time and that I'll lose. :Facepalm:
Me: "Whenever you want to race, give me a call and we can meet up"
Him: Rolls his eyes and laughs "Sure thing".

He hasn't hit me up yet, I wonder why? I just don't understand people who have trucks with a v8 and somehow they think it's fast...But whatever. He's lucky if he will click off a high 15 haha.

he proved the bottom end can handle 20psi out of T67 in a dyno video and ran 24psi on the same turbo in a different video. Lets see a stock bottom end (no rebuild) 420a run an 11 second pass.

Kid: nah, i just started this morning. and i added 4 more cyl.

This is a conversation between me and my jobless friend who has a completely stock 91 sohc dodge stealth (I know it's not a DSM but it's close enough)

Him: My clutch is starting to slip. I think I'm gonna order a stage 3 racing clutch from summit. It's rated at 40% over stock. Problem is it costs like $450

Me: Dude, you really don't need anything like that on your car. I'd stick with an OEM replacement.

Him: Well I figured if I get this one and it gives me 40% more power and my car has 220 hp now (he thinks hes car has 220 whp) I'll have around 300 hp. at the wheels.

Me: Getting a clutch isn't going to give you anymore hp.

Him: Well the guy said it's rated 40% over stock so I think I'm gonna go ahead and order it.

At my highschool there is a group of kids who insists they know everything there is to know about any kind of car, mostly DSM's since me and a buddy own them. The only one of them out of the whole group that even owns a car has an 04 pontiac gtp. They keep telling me to put a 16g on because its so big and my 14b is tiny. They always think that the 14b is stock on all dsm's and that almost any honda is fast or sweet.

Well i was looking at a blown roadrunner a guy had just finished building up real nasty like and don't remember exactly what i said but i ended up calling his blower a turbocharger . i felt so stupid after what i said i told him i was sorry and i know it's not a turbo and then walked away in shame haha
