When i first got my 2 gen n/t talon whenever i shifted into gear it felt stiff and good......but now whenever i shift it feels really loose and effortless.....I told my friend about it and told me that i need a new gear box, and i thought it just might have been me not changing my tranny fluids.............i asked my other friend and he told me that it could be my tranny cables being loose .....now i'm stumped over this simple dilema......

Not a dumb question at all. I think that if it still goes into gear you are good and would benefit from replacing some of the stock bushings. So it still goes into the gears fine it just feels mushy? You can replace the stock bushings that hold the shifter to the car with firm metal ones as well as replacing the plastic pieces that hold the shifter cables to the transmission with metal ones that fit tighter.

Here is a good link to the cable stiffeners. http://dsmtuners.com/forums/showthread.php?t=159494

Here is a link on how to make your own shifter base mounts. http://dsmtuners.com/forums/showthread.php?t=174077

The base mounts are easy to install as you just take off the center console and unbolt the base and bolt it back down with the new mounts.

I have personally done both of the mods to my car along with a very short shifter and I must say that it is the best engaging and most fun manual drivetrain car I have ever driven compared to all my friends cars and it really helps a lot to make the shifts feel better. I highly recommend both of these along with a short shifter.:thumb: It also wouldn't hurt to replace your tranny fluid if you say you haven't yet.
