DSM's... there not the same car are they?

Well im in a big argument with a friend..

His exact words

Eclipse/Talon/Laser are all the exact same car, known as a DSM (Diamond Star Motors), they are all the same car.

However all three have differences in body panels.. Not to mention a dodge avenger, stealth, mitsu 3000gt are also dsm's, and i KNOW there not the same...

So are DSM's all one car?

And other then that, lasers/talons/eclipse all have there differences correct?

Talons and Eclipses are the same other than a couple panels in 95-99's.

Some panels on the inside of a avenger are the same as on a eclipse/talon 95-99.
But the other stealth and 3000gt's are considered mitsu's also.

Technically, DSM stands for diamond star motors, which was a big corporate deal between Mitsu and Chrysler in the early 90's. Talons, Eclipses, and Lasers, as well as the Stealth, and the 3000GT, all came from this partnership.

As such, technically not all DSM's are the same.

However, when people say DSM they always mean the eclipse, talon, or laser.

to my knowledge the Galant VR-4 was made in Japan not Normal, illnois. People say its a DSM since it has so much in common with the 1G

yeh dude ur wrong and ur friends right...they are exactly the same known as DSM's except for taillights and the bumpers are a little different. but they are the same frame and everything. you could take each car and turn it into either 1 of the 2 brothers with the bumpers.

DSM refers to Diamond Star Motors, a plant. From a technical stand point 3KGTs, Stealth, Sebring, Avenger are all DSMs. BUT for tuning purposes DSM is mainly referring to Eclipse/Talons/Lasers since they all have the common dominators under the hood.

The Eclipse/Talon/Laser are essentially the same car, everything internally is the same, inside the car the same, badging and a few design differences are the only differences.
