DSM Starter questions- are they all the same?

So the other day I went to the junkyard and asked for a 1g starter and he named off a ton of cars the starter was on. All the starters he had looked kinda shotty, but I found on a local forum up here a 2g starter. Now I'm just wondering a very important question for all noobs: Are all Dsm starters the same? from 4g37 to 4g63 to 420a? I would expect the 420a to be defferent because its a Chrysler motor, but still maybe I'm lucky. Does anybody have an answer to this?

no they're not the same. And there is a diff between a a/t and m/t starter.

What about between 1g and 2g, and fwd and awd?

1g awd m/t and 2g awd m/t starters are the same i know that

So awd starters are the same between years and fwd starters are the same between years??
