Ok, so today I installed DSMLink in my 1g. I took a couple of logs and still don't really know what I am looking at. I was wondering if you could take a look at some of my logs and tell me what you think. I haven't adjusted my a/f or timing at all.

All I have done so far was set my NLTS and Launch Control. Thanks

Log #1: Idle
Log #2: 5500 launch to 3rd gear. I blew out my recirc tube towards the end.
Log #3: 3 Rev's. Reving in the driveway. The last rev, I had a check engine flash on the dash.

I have a LC-1 wideband, but it isn't currently hooked up to my v3. How do I hook up my LC-1 to DSMLink?
At WOT I'm running really rich at 8.5 a/f.
Any suggestions would help. Thanks

MODS:
fp 18g, 550cc injectors, walbro 255.

Here are the logs.

#1- Don't launch the car until you have it dialed in.
#2- Dial in the car...meaning, injector deadtimes/global, LTFT/STFT and WOT tuning

There are LOTS of resources in the link forums about this. It MUST be done before you do anything drastic with the car or you could run the risk of doing more damage then good.

Ok, I am and have been looking in the link threads. How do I change injector deadtimes/global and LTFT/STFT

Another log with some more raw values also using nlts.

Wow.....DON'T DO WOT/NLTS/ANTI-LAG OR ANYTHING STRESSFUL to an UNTUNED motor until you get it to that point. You need to get your fuel trims and airflow in line. You could seriously cause your motor to knock so bad it blows. That's why Page 1 of the ECMLink document says basically they are not liable for the mass amount of destruction that YOU can cause to your engine. Get your base tune setup, then do WOT tune, THEN setup all the little extras. If you don't know how to do your base tuning, then you can read up on it.

Do a search there are at least 5 on this site alone along with tons on links forums!

Just to get you started in the right direction....

"You have to go for 10 minute long cruises. In that 10 minutes, you should hold the RPM at approx 2500 - 3000 rpm. You should also maintain the same throttle position. Try your best no to disturb the rpm and throttle position. when that's done, immediately pull over and idle for 5 minutes. You will notice your mid and lo trims start to adjust.

NOW, remember, 12.5% is MAX whether you are plus or minus. Read what I am about to tell you over and over till it sinks in:

If your LO trim is a GREATER value then the MID trim after the cruise and idle, you heve to INCREASE the dead time value. If your LO trim is a LESSER value then the MID trim, you have to DECREASE the dead time.

Make an adjustment to the dead time, then go for another 10 minute cruise and idle. Do this till your LO and MID trims are the SAME value. Once they are the same, then you bring that value closer to zero by adjusting the GLOBAL and go for more 10 minute cruizes and idling till you have the LO and the MID at zero. If you are within 1 or 2 percent, that is usually close enough but I would strive for zero.

Your dead time and global given to you are just a rough ball park, there's no way in hell they can be perfect because everyone's setup is different, and no two cars are quite the same from the factory even."

Here's a good place to start for the really basic, first-time setup stuff.

ECMLink 101 - initial checks

Here's a basic Engine and ECU theory page.

Engine and ECU 101

Here's a basic "how fuel trims work" page.

Fuel Trims

Here's the "parent page" to all the above with some links off to other good resources.

I'll try to look through the logs in a bit to see if anything really jumps out at me. But those are some pages I would *really* recommend reading through. If you really want to understand how to dial your engine and ECU in, you have to start with the basics. You seem interested in learning, so there are some good starting points.

I will definitely read and re-read those links and that quote. Thanks for the help guys and ill post more logs when I get my base stuff down. Feel free to add more comments.

Also, where do I go to see my Lo/Mid/Hi trim?

The process works like this:

1. You tell the ECU what you want it to log using the Edit->Captured Values dialog.
2. You grab a new log with that new data in it.
3. You display the new data using the Edit->Display Values dialog.

I do. I haven't had much response there yet. Hopefully soon. Im going to take another long today with 10 min between 2500-3000rpm and a 5min idle and post it up again.
