levittown,
Hi -Can anyone recommend a good tuner for the dsmlink near NYC. I am looking for someone with experience to dyno tune my car and I am willing to drive a few hrs if need be.

Sorry I don't have a specific answer to your question because I'm on the other end of the map.

What I can suggest is going here

ECMTuning User Support Forums

Doing your own "road tune" will be more beneficial than a "dyno tune" The wealth of knowledge in the forum above outclasses any tuner. It's also very hard to find a DSM specific tuner that is familiar enough with DSMlink to prove worthwhile. Maybe once a week, someone will pop in the link forums and post about getting tuned at a dyno, the results are never pretty.

I could go on forever, but the point is: You have a very user-friendly engine management system. Learn how it works, then learn how to use it. You can post a tuning log on that forum or on THIS forum,

Log File Advice - DSM Forums

and get instant, reliable feedback from tons of very smart and experienced users. The more you learn how to tune and log you own car, the better off you are in the long run. It's just like doing your own work, it only helps you understand your car more, and that is desirable.

Hi-thanks for the info. I was actually trying to register for that site because I know there's a wealth of knowledge there, but for some reason the site was down and would not allow anyone to register. I think they were most likely undergoing some type of maintenance of the site. I have played with the link myself and made adjustments but I am looking to upgrade to the V3 software bc I hear it's a whole new animal and I like teh upgrades coming in the future.

The DSMlink forums is not something you register for. Since it is only for DSMlink owners, you have to send information to Tom/Dave and they will set up your account.

There is actually a register tab on the ecmlink website. I might just end up at stm, I just wanted to avoid the drive, but they seem like the most knowledgable shops out there.

Hey, post a log?

Most of the guys over there are the same guys here.

:)

I like STM BTW. I didn't know they did tuning, but them seem a reliable source.

Thanks for the info guys. I am off a few days next week I think Im just going to upgrade my link and play with the new set-up for now and go from there. for $175 you really cant go wrong as an upgrade and the new system seems very promissing. I agree though STM seems like an awesome shop for the work they have done but also for the ppl who do the work. I just wish they were closer.
