hey what are you guys doing for timing? Do you just watch the knock count and keep increasing the timing till you see knock?

Also, i heard the dsmlink comes preset to what injectors you have, is this just the global fuel trim or something else inside the dsmlink that you cant change?

I want to buy the link from my friend used, but im not sure if it was "set" for the injectors i have.

So what do they mean when they say they calibrate it to your injectors, is it something i can change inside the dsmlink myself?

Also, this global fuel trim that they use to calibrate for injectors, how well does it work? I remember in my previous car with standalone, global fuel trim just meant it took a certain percentage off the WHOLE map, everywhere, everywhere there was fuel, it affected it

Isnt this the same thing as setting all your fuel trims the same on an afc? I thought compensating for injectors was a bit more involved

Also, where is the dsmlink affecting the fuel, its not altering the mafs signal like the safc is it?

And if its not, how do you avoid fuel cut with the dsm link? I know the afc when you trim the fuel back, it effectively also extends the range of your fuel cut/mafs since youre just manipulating the mafs signal

But how do you extend your fuel cut with a dsmlink? I will be runing that t3/04b h3 trim, with 660cc injectors and a 190pump looking for about 300-350whp

First, there is alot more to tuning with DSMLink then just timing and knock. There are many other aspects that i must admit im still learning, but that are involved in the tuning of your car.

Second, what ever set injectors you have, no matter what the chip in the ECU is preset to, you can adjust DSMLink for your injectors. You set your injectors with the global fuel trim, and the injector dead time, which is on the same screen as the GFT.

How changing GFT and DT affects everything and where it affects it, im not sure, i just know it works.

With the fuel cut, honestly i dont know all about that, like i said im still learning.

Yes, the DSMLink comes programmed for the injectors you specify when ordering. It is very easy to change in the fuel dialog though. Their site outlines how to make adjustments for different sized injectors. Global and dead time estimates are even given for the common upgraded injectors.

Timing is dependant on how much boost you are running, knock, gas type, etc. I usually set the car up at a boost level and a/f that I like and then add a little timing. If it knocks I pull it back out. From what I have seen from others logs most people run the timing sliders at 0 on pump gas.

if i never touched my mafs and its not hacked or anything, what do i do with all the dsmlink values that deal with mafs compensation and stuff????

Im buying my dsmlink used so its originally setup for 850cc injectors and god knows what kind of mafs tricks

Speaking of that, i hear that dsmlinks are hardware programed for certain injectors, what do i have to do to get it back to my 660cc injectors? Can i overide the original settings that came with the dsmlink new or should i just send it back to get reprogramed

Zero out any MAS correction across the board.

Read my post prior to yours about the injectors.

also with the dsmlink, can you program the stock boost gauge to show knock count like on the dsmchips?

i did, it just didnt answer all my questions specifically

anyways, i am ordering the dsmlink from them now and i will be sending an eprom ecu to them as well to get socketed, i hope all goes welll, i cant wait to finally have decent tuning

I miss the capability of a good tuning device, i was spoiled with my pectel t2 on my focus....LOL

Cant wait to finally get it dialed in for pump and race gas, and then post results, im gonna push the small 16g to the limit before i throw in the t3.04b bullseye turbo, im just gonna mess with the 16g to seee what kind of numbers i can put out and maybe run it at teh strip, on slicks ofcourse, i am tired of seeing wack numbers from us GST owners :thumb:
