dsmlink PLEASE HELP

hey guys i just installed a ecu that is supposed to hae dsmlink on it i bought it off someone on here and when i went to start my car the fan kicked on high and the car would not start i tried a few times then i plugged my old computer in to make sure it wasnt somethin else and it started rite up am i doing something wrong or is there another issue

Just plugging in a computer would not cause it to start when it didn't before.

Other than that, I didn't really get much out of your post. Do you have a specific question, or just not sure what DSMlink is?

Would the car crank with the other ecu? Did you input your setup into dsmlink before trying?

yes the car would crank it just would not fire and yes i know what dsmlink is

Check to see if the check engine light goes off after 5 seconds of turning key on, if it stays on there is probably an issue with the ecu. Go check out the wiki section on dsmlink.com, alot of good info on no start problems.

The ecmlink may have different settings. Perhaps tune for bigger injectors or somthing like that. You will have to open it up in a laptop and change any setting so it'll be right for your car.
When I did my ecu swap, happens the same way, my car is stock and the ecmlink ecu had tune in for bigger injectors and some other things. Set everything back to stock including injector size, global/deadtime in the ecmlink ecu and started right up.

You also have a 97 GST. So you have to go in and say you have a non 95 cas. There's a write up about this somewhere.

First, I would suggest to open the ecu up and check if it has the DSMLink chip in there. Its only 4 screws if memory serves me correct and its easy to see the chip.
Second, you need to set the deadtime for whatever injectors you have and zero out all other settings.

On ecm link go to live ecm link settings, then misc, then on the right side of the screen there will be four boxes and one will say ACTIVATE FANS FULL ON. Try that my man

^^ this, you need to get a laptop man. you can't just get dsmlink and hope to start your car right up. Chances are your chip was custom burnt for the last guys injectors.. Mine were 770cc injectors .. you haveta 0 everything out on the computer.

Mine wouldn't fire first time ether..

As for the fans, you have to go into the program and check the box off.

you have to swap the spark plugs or else it wont start.... then invert cas on the ecmlink program also uncheck the fan box, google for stock ecmlink file then upload it to your ecu

sorry guys you are right i should have been clearer on my question the only thing i was lost about was the fans being on full time i actually did set all my settings and im sure it will start now i just didnt know the was a setting for the fans to be on like that ill try it tomarrow and let you guys know i really appreciate the help
