Heres the situation. I have absolutely NO experience with tuning. When I bought my 98 GSX it was already equipped with a 60 trim turbo and necessary fuel mods and DSMLink. I am just now finishing up an entire rebuild (everything from the transfer case up to the valve cover has been rebuilt and or replaced) and I have downsized from the 60 Trim to an EVO III big 16G. Now the car has been tuned for the 60 Trim, so Im concerned now as to where to start with the tuning for the EVO III turbo. Will I damage anything by starting it up and driving it with the previous tune but using the new turbo? How much damage can I do here prior to dialing everything in for the new setup? Also, where would a good starting point be to adjust the tune down for the smaller turbo?
I will add that I am in the process of doing my research on the ins and outs of DSMLink and the basics of how to use it etc. I havent found any examples of this though where someone is downsizing in power/setup and adjusting the tune accordingly. I just dont want to risk damaging or blowing up a freshly rebuilt motor etc.
Any info is greatly appreciated.
Oh, one other thing, is it possible to use a base tune from someone else with a similar setup?? I know I have the current base tune saved in my email as a file from the previous owner that can be uploaded or whatever.
