Okay so i have a 95 tsi with eprom 16g, 2.5 buscher turbo back, afc, 1g bov modded and filter mod. What i am trying to figure out is should i get dsmlink or go another route. I am pretty good with computers and pick up things quickly so i can read and teach myself but i am 2.5 hours away from the nearest dyno. So im stuck.

What are your goals? You already have an AFC, a low hp 16g car would be happy with a logger and maybe a wideband. If you are looking for more dsmlink would be a good choice because you already have an eprom.

If you decide do buy dsmlink and you bought your car used make sure you confirm you have an eprom before sending it off.

If you already have an EPROM ECU then DSMLink is a great way to go. Understand computers doesn't really help you much if you can't understand the program or know how to tune a car. A less expensive route would be to install an EVO ECU and harness connector which would allow you to tune your car as well. If you go with DSMLink, which I recommend. You can read on there site about basics and settings you need to get started. And from there you can just post your logs and they will help you out a lot with it.

If you are good with computers and like to tinker, EPROM tuning is a great option. It's cheap, effective, and fun. You can go with a burner and mount the chip outside the ecu with an extender for easy tune changes, or go with an emulator for even easier tuning without having to mess around swapping chips. If all you want to do is tune, you can do it all in Tunerpro; you won't really have to learn anything except the basics of tuning.

Im looking to go somewhere between 300 and 400 right now. I have been told alot lately that i can get over 300 with simple bolt ons and a good tune but the same people have been saying that dsmlink for my setup is overkill. But at the same time i would rather have it for the future and it gives me more options now.

Having dsmlink is never overkill. It depends on your budget. But you say your looking for between 300-400hp and id say get link so you can run beyond 650cc injectors, you can also get the eprom(if your '95 still has it) and get a keydiver chip but that will depend on injector size to program it on a chip.

With link you can run what ever injectors you want. Of course with the right supporting mods. And Ecmlink v3 lets you run the Gm maf with out the translator for a blow thru setup.

All in all look at your budget.

+1 on the Burner and TunerPro!! :thumb:

That's what I use. Spend the extra money and get the ostrich. It enables you to make on-the-fly changes and tuning so much easier and faster.

Process with burner:
1. Burn baseline chip
2. Log
3. Passenger makes changes to bin
4. Pull Over
5. Shut off car
6. Pull chip
7. Burn chip
8. Replace chip
...Repeat steps 2-8 till tuned.

Process with Ostrich:
1. Push baseline bin to Ostrich
2. Log
3. Passenger Makes Changes to bin
4. Click update
...Repeat steps 2-3 till completly tuned.

Edit: Woot!! 1,000th post!

I've learned a great deal about tuning in general from the DSMLink forums. That alone was worth the price in my mind.

well thnks so much for all the input. Im going to buy the link i just need to find a place to send my ecu out and get it socketed and chipped where is the best place and prices?

ECMtuning (the people who created ECMlink) will socket it. They are one of two people I would trust to do the job (and they are the closer of the two to you).

Prob one of them Would be Keydiver chip by Jeff Oberholtzer right??? :p he does a really good job.im using one of his stage 3 chip. cant say nothing bad bout it,perfect tune, had to adjust just a bit of fuel trims thats it ;) Great Guy to deal with.....

I didn't realize he did socketing services. The other one is steve (member on here).

I just wanted to give an update to the thread i decided to buy the dsmlink from nikkeebabee @ Fast Track Auto Services. the transaction was great he was very informative and to the time to explain some basic stuff to me. I will definately do business with him again in the future and would recomend him to any one else lookin to buy stuff on the forum hassel free. :hellyeah:
Now i have to send my ecu out to get that chipped who is good and who is close to me. Also is there ne thing else i will need to start tuning besides my laptop and the link?
Thanks

DSMLINK is the best tuning product i have ever used. I say go for it.

I believe I said in post #12 who to send the ECU out to for socketing.

You'll need a wideband before you do any tuning.

i just sent my ecu to ECMTuning...the makers of dsmlink, I did 2 day express shipping late monday and they recd the ecu on thursday...I'm in west texas and with warranty it was a little over 30 bucks....i say send it to them but I haven't recd it back yet as I just finished my order today but I have no doubt Thomas will get it taken care of.

so you are saying that an evo ecu would fit an eclipse with a harness conector. now do they make them for a 1g?( 90 gsx)
