After a long and frustrating time with link, we found out my chip was sitting on Tom Dorris' desk for months unclaimed....i sent it in and it fell out of the box! I was trying to tune my car with a stock chip in it!

yup. We finally put 2 & 2 together and he told me he found a chip and it musta been mine. it was, and I had a chance to install it last weekend. I'm now 11.7 WOT, 2-step is setup, and NO knock on WOT pulls!

I wanted to have a head ready for when I did the Timing belt, HG & ARP head studs. I was cleaning up and found the good spare head I got with the car.

Pulled the upper end stuff out and it's going to the NAPA machine shop for new OEM valve seals, valve locks, leak test and whatever else to get it ready:

I'll update this when its fresh back from the shop and the 272's are put in.

UPDATE: The head is back :applause:.

I had it pressure tested top and bottom and it needed 2 new valves. Burnt I believe. I expected this, the Prev. owner told me that. Extreme PSI Stock size, $8 each.

It got the basic head job, everything apart and checked. I did NOT need the head decked. it was .002 off flat. mitsu is .003 max. I didn't need a 3-angle either, everything was sealing fine. I paid $225 for the head job and $65 for the pressure tests. $319 out the door. New valve seals as well. I paid the flat price but It was in great condition so I didn't need much else.

it's nice and CLEAN now. ready to get the 272's, Gen 3 lifters and gaskets (that I forgot and left at home...GRR). the pits and marks are just factory marks, the iPhone makes em realllly apparent.

FINALLY sold my rifle so I can fund the DSM. this poor thing has been continually back-burner'ed for the Fords and other stuff for TOO LONG!

heres one last shot before it all goes in. Been collecting parts for a year now:

Very nice man. Just one question, because you have that chip, when you go wide open. It sticks to 11.7 : 1? Thats pretty cool. You dont need to do any tune at all? you just have the chip, no program like link?

I want to see the after the machine shop pics! I like to see what kind of work other shops send out there doors.

Are you having the head surfaced? if so.. how is the shop doing that?

Looks like a decent core head to start with.

I hope you plan on running a composite head gasket.

if the head is warped .002, did you check the block? if it has any to it that will put you at the .003

319 for a wash, pressure test and seal swap is a bit pricy...

it was fully torn down and inspected, pressure test top & bottom, as well as 2 new valves installed and new valve seals. the shop was recommended by my DSM/EVO local guys. limit was .003, It's good to go. it was this, or just throwing the cams in the current head.

I am def using an OEM gasket/arp studs. this head is my spare that hasnt been on the motor for awhile.
