Your engine will last exactly 34,560 more miles. So if you drive as much as the average person, your engine should last about another two years. Maintenance has no bearing on how long the engine will last, as every engine has an internal clock on its lifespan that is set in stone and cannot be changed.

umm, my friend's gf didnt maintain hers and she ran low on oil and spun a bearing at 15k miles. i guess that was the limit!

seriously, if you take good care of it and dont go modding it then it should probably last a while more. how much more? no one can say. no engine has a built in internal clock as to when its going to grenade. i mean, my friend's dad has an astro van with 500k miles on it, but he did take really good care of it, and replaced a lot of seals on it and stuff. it all depends on the kind of weather you live in, the way you drive your car, the mods done to it, how well you maintain it, etc etc.

a good indication of how your motor's health is, is to check the compression.

are u retarded? look at what ur saying...a time clock so that means when an engine will self distruct it self in ur 34,560 miles? what the hell man are u dumb?
my friend has an 1991 eagle talon tsi awd with 279k on it, currently running, no rebuilds ...and the turbo is a small 16g... so ah the thing is getting some good strain on it but hell he takes care of it so IT WONT 'SELF DESTRUCT'

think before u post, PLEASE

btw my car has 211,263 miles on it

do you realize he was being a smart ass? someone was asking a question that NO ONE can answer, so he gave a reply to it. i found it entertaining.

What TurboGeoff said was rather inappropriate and uncalled for. Ya they may be easy and cheap to rebuild but very few know how or have money to. And who cares whether its a turbor nt? ya most on here may have turbos but its still a DSM. next time resist the urge to click reply and wast space on the board that in no way helps or answers the question asked. No reason to be an ahole about it.

all stuff i was going to say :thumb:

Yeah, keep a good eye on your oil level and oil changes for that matter, basically coolant temperature and oil level is the life of the motor. But dont worry too much, if a motor is ready to go, it will just go.

Oh and im right behind you, I just hit 165k and many many races and still doing good enough to keep it on the road, my car is also my daily driver and race car when tracks are opens then again since I have a heavy foot I might have to do a rebuilt soon.

I had 175K on everything when I got rear-ended. I now have 185K on the bottom end (rebulit the head when motor swapped) and turbo and she still loves to run 13's ;)

i thought i had a lot of miles with mine....135000 on mine. well i dont have to worry about mine going anytime soon, cause my stupid friend was like OMG your engine is gonna blow up with all those miles. im like ok we and i have a 16g turbo on it, and it runs fine still. so i am not too worried about that now. maybe a little.....just take care of it and itll run good...oh yeah and i change the oil every 3000 miles with mobile one. im only 16 so i dont know much about cars, maybe some help on how to take care of it?

maybe you should think before you post. i wonder how many people are doing the same as me saying "wow this guy is a ubernork, is he really that thick to not see that leaky was being very sarcastic?" i mean cmon.

thatd be like "well some 7 bolt motors came with a special clock, some cars the clock runs quick, some cars it doesnt even tick, this clock is called the crankwalk clock" :shhh:

The engine is good forever if it is properly maintained. Sure you'll replace the basic wear and tear parts, but basically the engine will always run, in what condition is the question. Your rings will slowly start to wear down and you'll burn more and more oil until you need a rebuild. You'll spin a rod bearing and shit like that if you abuse the engine like redlining all the time. But if you are driving the car pretty normally it will not just stop. Who's the idiot who said something about the timeclock? There is no timeclock. It's up to the maintenance and how you drive.

ROFL, and he says Think before you post BAHAHAHHA :D :p

118K on a 2G..of course the motor isn't the orignal motor, its newer than the car so I don't know how many miles the engine itself has on it.

The internal clock It sounded stupid ...But it would be a good way for the car dealers to make money.....I was trying to get a general idea how many miles the dsm can handle So to everyone with more miles than me ....Thanx you give me hope trust me my dsm is very well maintained very well....My sister is getting a 96 eclipse turbo dont know the mooel but it only has 64k ..We are both in a car club so were always racing street and track, cruizing ....She thinks she is going to be faster than me in her car....So im hoping my car will last long enough to KEEP her in the # 2 spot..Im in the # 1 spot because right now I have the faster car .I love family compition :D :thumb: :dsm:
