123,400when I got it. 173,400 on the original engine now. Was not taken care of by any of the 3 precious owners and my compression is finally starting to go down 140-185-180-190. I take really good care of her, but I do give her a beating pretty much everyday and I road race whenever the tracks are open. Still on the stock clutch and this was my learner car(had to teach myself).

I have a 1997 Mitsubishi Eclipse GSX with 165K miles on it. I was wondering if I should sell it considering the miles that it has, or keep it and do a 6-bolt swap? My biggest dilemma is all the work I've put into it, but I'm thinking of finding a car that has a higher stock HP like:

93-97 Toyota Supra Turbo (If I can find one)
90-95 Mazda RX-7
90-96 Nissan 300ZX Turbo
95-99 Mitsubishi 3000GT VR-4
95-98 Dodge Stealth R/T Twin-Turbo
00-02 Pontiac Trans Am WS6

If I sell the car with the mods in my mod list (including the not yet installed 6-bolt block and rebuilt 1G head) how much could I possibly get out of my car? On DSMTrader people were selling their cars (EX: 96 Modded GSX with 132K Miles) for $8K-$11K. If someone could help me out, it would be greatly appreciated. Please tell me how much I could get for my car with all the mods and a suggestion of what car to get (on or off the list).

Only sell it for a Supra or an LS1. The 6G72TT motors and the VG30DETT motors are just about as reliable as our modded motors in higher mileage. And a rotary probably won't last as long as you need it, unless well taken care of.

If you have done extensive modding or if youre attached to your car (like me and most of the guys here), keep it. Do a 2.3L conversion and you got a brand new motor thats more reliable than the factory one.

Rotary FDs are high maintenence cars and repairs will cost you a grip. Buy one only if it's new (RX8) or if you know its history. It's all in the break-in process, and if it's done wrong, the motor wont last.

Supras are nice but you most likely will find an older one (1994-1995 w/150K miles) for sale for more than what it's worth.

Buy an LS1 if you want a really reliable motor with lots of grunt and power. My C5 is a babied car so I cant attest of its real reliability coz I never had a problem with it. It not turbo though - at least till price of Lingenfelter C5 systems go down.

My 98 GSX is my favorite though. If it were a FWD, I probably would had sold it but the AWD-Turbo feature is tough to get away from.

I thought a 2.3L stroker would be much less reliable than a built 6-bolt. If I keep my car, I definitely need to get either a 6-bolt or 2.3L stroker. I also have a smaller than average turbo (Ported EVO III Big 16G) and require a new one. Which turbo should I get if i keep my car.

It looks like people are mostly saying if I do sell my car, get an LS1 or Supra. My chances of finding a Supra is about one in a million so if I did sell my car, most likely it would be for a 00-02 Pontiac Trans Am WS6. But the question still remains if I should sell my car and get the WS6, or if I should just keep it and finish the motor (I.E. 6-bolt or 2.3L stroker) and get a bigger turbo (I.E. FP3065, AGP 50-Trim, Mitsubishi 20G).

And yes, I have done extensive modding and am kind of attached to my DSM. But I also want to try modding something new that has close to the horsepower stock as my modded DSM (320-380 HP), And see how high I can take it from there.

Look at your car, then look at a WS6. Tell me what looks better.......the WS6 looks outdated with its rather large nostrils (RAM AIR - yeah right!)) and it's not as fun to drive as your turbo-awd car. It's big, have an ugly interior, plus it's a Pontiac. WTF

A 2.3L conversion will be more reliable if you use good components - ARP studs, Eagle rods, etc. Plus you wont have crankwalk in the back of your mind.

I plan to do a 2.3L and have an FP Green or a Evo3 Big16G (more likely) and will continue using mine as a daily driver.

I can't you said that about the WS6...LOL, you of all people on here I would think would admire the WS6. I for one love the look of that car, off subject but still thought it was funny reading that first paragraph.

LOL!!

I like LS1s but I still take the side of DSMs. For an older car, the eclipse still looks sexy compared to many cars out there. WS6s or the new GTO arent attractive cars, well to me at least. I was driving this morning in the Vette and this WS6 guy ran next to me in the freeway. Its not a bad car but it could use some improvement. The nostrils gotta go. LOL! Ram air is a hype they use to sell the thing.

I cant believe your thinking about getting rid of an AWD DSM. Expecially a 2Gb. Those things are very hard to find man, you should consider yourself lucky and hold on to it. I know i searched for months before i gave up and bought my GST.

Keep your DSM, if you go for that WS6 you are going for an uglier car that seriously doesnt appeal to me at all. Your gonna miss the boost, i guarentee you it. Youll regret it later, just like 75% of the people that leave DSM's. I would only give up a 2G GSX for a decent condition Supra. All the other cars on your list, i wouldnt give up any DSM for wether its fwd or awd.

This is almost as bad as the people getting rid of there rare AWD Lasers.

i say you sell the car becasue of the miles on it then just get yourself another dsm with lower miles on the body :thumb:

I've had my GSX for 3 or 4 years. I bought a '94 Vette about a year ago and needless to say, I finally sold it last week. Sure the torque and rear wheel drive can be fun, but to me it gets old real quick. My Eclipse may not be as fast, but it is just much more fun to drive and live with everyday. You will miss the boost. The other cars you have listed are nice, but some are even more unreliable (RX7) and harder to work on (those crammed v6's) and are usually overpriced IMO. I mean come on, asking more for a ten year old supra than it cost new. Give me a break, they're not that nice.

I think I can agree with everything you said except for the part about the Supra. Yes it's rediculous that the asking price for those cars are outrageous, but the point of getting one is because it's rare, it's twin-turbo inline-6, RWD, and just the look. I love the look of the Supra and my DSM, but I always liked 2-seaters.

For now I think I'll just keep my car and do a 6-bolt with a bigger turbo, it will be too hard to find a Supra, but if one comes around one day I might just consider getting it.

But since I'm keeping it, can anyone help me with my turbo "popping" problem? I have another thread no one has answered yet but it's a problem I need help with. The thread is called "Should Be Running Better Than This".
