There is a retired DaimlerChrysler engineer in the metro detroit area that has a Blue 1990 with under 20K on it. It also sports some early "preproduction" level electronics. (ie. Prototype parts)

Within one of Chryslers warehouses is also a one off Eagle Talon. I think it's a 1990 model. I know the keeper for the warehouse and hope to make a trip this spring to see and photograph this gem. When I do, I'll post some pics.

was wonderin' how many miles are on your dsm or dsms? my 93 tsi awd has 107k and is still runnin' strong.

was wonderin' if 156k is alot for a 92 tsi awd. i figured if the timin' belt was replaced, and if the clutch and tranny was good, it should be fine? was wonderin', because i am thinkin' about pickin' one up with that many miles on it.

Check the compression.

My 91 tsi awd has about 150,000 miles on the original motor. Still reads 158 psi across the board for compression. :thumb:

112K

Rebuilt engine, built 1G head, TRE Trans.

Do a compression check. If you buy it, get the T-Belt changed ASAP. I don't care if he says he just did it.

150k on the body. No idea on the engine but I know it's not the original.

i have a 91 tsi with 127,000 miles ... it doesnt have as much power as it used to ... should i have a rebuilt done ... i need a little help with my decision ... any comments will help thanks

of course thats good mileage for a rebuild make sure ur turbo is good too if its not get a new one while u are rebuilding ur engine. Very good time for a rebuild. O and do it yourself, its a great experience and i think alot of fun. Hsve fun and dont get mad at rusted bolts, etc. :)

I've been looking for a 95-99 GS-T, GSX, or a TSI, but every time I find one that I'm interested in, it has at least 90,000 miles on it  . I'm thinking of doing the whole 300hp goal in the tuning guide so yeah, this engine will be worked on alot. I'm just thinking, is 90,000 miles a little to much to actually start doing engine mods on?

Also, I hear DSM motors go to hell after 150,000 miles.

90k to 160k will take a few years... why waste time speculating on that?

my car has began its modding days at 75k . upgraded recently to the big16g at 83k. Am I going to be worried about my car at 90k? probably not. This is because I, and the owner before me, have taken care of my car.

So.. i'm basically saying 90k is not too late to start modding, as long as the car itself is health

Dude guys run 11s on 120k and higher on stock short blocks. The heads just get refreshed/valves,gudes,seals,HG and ARP studs. I have a 90 with 103k on the short block now getting head work, bushur racing P/C B16g. Will be running high 11s with it by next fall.

my car is just under 150K. the engine was rebuilt at 133K and i havent had any problems with it at all :talon:
