Ya, maybe I'm biting off more than i can chew, My 2.3L short block should be done by the weekend after next, im picking up DSMLink for a 1G, gonna use a GM MAFT, putting in 272/272 cams (HKS) and a buchar FMIC (all at the same time)

this is maybe too much at one time? (i might toss a new turbo in there while im at it)

oh ya, the real question

anyone out there with DSMLINK in a 1g? are there any major flaws/bugs that i need to keep in mind ?

Wha? They make dsmlink for 1g's alone now?! I thought you had to get a brand new eprom ecu.

Im also going for this "setup",

2.4L, 50 trim, (or bigger),Maft, and lots other stuff, but deciding what tuning device to use is hard. Im leaning towards a pocketlogger, SAFC, and a wideband, but the DSM link seems like a comprable system in price and features. :thumb:

no they dont "make" dsm link for 1g's, but you can make it your self with some patence, & u do have to get a new eprom also have to basicaly wire your own harness (NOT for the faint of heart)

I used a pocket logger and SAFC for a while, but its kind of frustrating, though ultimately effective.

i recently wrote the guys at dsmlink an email and they told me that the 1g version of the dsmlink should be out soon , they are in the final testing phases of it , so just wait a little longer and dont buy the 2g version it will be a big hassle to convert to 95 eprom

there sure is, there are a few in CO. and atleast 3 in UT, A friend has a 2.4, dsmlink, FP3065 in his 1G.

I am sure there are others around, but I know of these ones personally. But great job on doing the conversion. :thumb:

They don't make it expressly for 1gs yet, but might soon.

As far as the thread, i would install everything except the maf translator at first to get some good logs of airflow....etc. Then you can install the maf (in blow through form) at the same time as using the stock mas (well not exactly the same time). You can alternate runs with the stock mas hooked up and tyhen the gm maf and you can calibrate it to read the same amount. ohterwise it will be inaccurate. I am sure you will be very happy with the link. :) I am

Hey, I think I've heard of that guy. ;)

The conversion is four to five hours (if you've never done it before) worth of non-labor intensive work. A 95 EPROM ECU sells for about as much as a 1g EPROM ECU. A air sensor upgrade of some sort is standard issue for a 1g. The only added expense is that of a 2g knock sensor. Boo-hoo, real big hassle to do the conversion.

yeah, I think he lives on your street :D . hope you didnt mind me using you as a example Brian. Good job on your run the other day.

Well, I've got a 60-1, I'm building my 2.3L stroker as we speak (pulling off head and crank case to put with the rest of my block to take to the machine shop), and I've got a 2g MAS right now but I've also ordered an EFI PMS that came with a blowthrough GM 3bar MAF. I'll let you know how well everything works together. I would recommend greater consideration to your fuel system though. I've spent $310 on the rail, lines, regulator, and filter, $350 on 1000cc injectors, and I'm going to rewire my 255 to see if it'll cut it, but I'll probably end up with a bosch or supra pump. (another $300). Just make sure you've made concessions for fuel to match your engine and power goals.

Holy shit dude! Thats gonna eat your drivetrain! Im going with a 2.4L block setup as well, with a lot of other mods. But Im thinking a bit smaller turbo, maybe a 20g or a 50trim, or whatever my uncle has lying around. My mods will be something like:

*660cc injectors (i know its small, but I need to conserve my mpgs)
*GM MAFT 2.x
*Pocketlogger
*Fuel Pump Rewire
*Walbro 255lph fuel pump
*Oversize valve job on the head
*50trim or 20g or whatever I can get
*Evo8 FMIC (i konw its small, but I got it for free)
*Upgraded IC pipes
*Upgraded Intake Pipe
*Boost Gauge
*Hallman Evolution boost controller
*custom 3'' exhaust system
*2g exhuast manifold (stock is cracked, but I might get a bigger manifold to fit the bigger turbo)
*ACT 2600 clutch
*Strengthened tranny (dont know how)
*Racing Pistons, racing rods, racing cams (dont ask....my engine mechanic uncle is sorting this out)

Does this list look good to you SmoothCriminal?
