dsm build questions

Hey everyone i have some questions. I sold my old talon a while back and im gonna be looking to get another one not sure if a 1g or a 2g yet but ill figure that out when i come back from the marines. Im gonna be looking to make somewhere from 500-650 awhp. My question is if i should just build up a jdm 6 bolt or get the block and head that ams has to offer and making it a 2.3lt stroker. Also another question is what would be a good turbo to use for this kind of power output, i was looking at the AMS 50 trim turbo kit and the gt30r turbo kit they have but im not sure i was just wondering if anyone has experienced either of these 2 turbos first hand and which one would be better for my goal or if you have input on any other turbo out there. Any feedback would be great thanks guys.

if you have money go with AMS shortblock. Talking about the turbo setup,the 30r won't be enough to reach 650 AWHP .you will need gt42r and 1000+cc injectors.......

Not completly true. depending on which fuel you plan to run you can make around 650 with a 35r and E85 or E98. I help build my friends car that has a 35r 1600cc injectors and everything else( i can go further into depth if you would like on the setup) and he made 640awhp just the other day. If you are planning to fun pump gas this is going to be a much harder task. and you are prob looking at at least 13k or more just letting you know. i am doing a 35r setup on pump gas and i will be between 13k-15k.

2.3 motor, with GT35R, or HX-40, 1000"s cc injectors, will meet your goal. If you have 2.3L, you will probably make easy 500 WHP on pump. That is very street friendly motor.

thanks alot for the feedback guys but yea im planning on using 93 pump gas. And yea if your willing to let me know on the setup that your friend made that 640 whp with that would be great just pm it to me.

This kid is in the same ball park I am. 2.3L stroker with HTA gt35r you should be hitting 500awhp easy. Also, look into aquamist as it's a very nice setup.

Just to let you know a JDM 6 bolt is no better than a USDM 6 bolt and the same goes for all other JDM vs. USDM engines. The main difference is that the JDMs are cheaper to buy as a whole vs. a USDM one. In regards to making that much power I suggest that you look into how much a tranny, transfer case, and all the other hardware will cost that will allow you to put all of that power on the ground consistently.

How much money do you have? Do you realize that 650-700 is going to cost you an arm leg and a testi?

I was also wondering something how do you guys think the block itself would hold up if i built the bottom end meaning i did a 2.3l stroker kit on it from ams and got it O-ringed, built the head and then slapped on a AMS gt35r?
