Okay, like the titile said the driverside axle is stuck in the tranny. I have a 2 foot pry bar and I still can't get it out. Even when hitting the pry bar with a hammer the whole axle seems to flex. Any suggestions? I thought driverside was sopoused to slide right out WTF

Edit: I searched and it seemed most problems were the passenger side axle, I don't know why DS is such a pain!

Yes, the 2 14mm bolts on that bracket? Yep got them... the axle is out about a half inch but won't budge after that.

Also, I already ripped that seal apart, hopefully they aren't costly.

When you say half an inch out, do you mean that it's snapped out? Like you could push it back in and it would snap in? If so, make sure you've got enough room for the axle to come out.

One thing I did not read, Did you unbolt the control & stearing arm from the knukle? If not you can remove the two upper strut to knukle bolts and fold the assembly out of the way.

I am not sure if it is snapped out or not, but I can push it in, I have about 1/4 inch of the part you pry on out. How do I get more room, remove the strut to knucle bolts? I can pull it out but I can't see splines yet from what I can see it looks like the axle is being pushed as far as it can into the back of the hub, I just thought it had enough room. It seems like you are probably right now that i think about it, because I was putting everything into this prybar and the prybar would flex before the axle would budge. I got it as far as it is now with just my hands also.

Anyways, so do I do what the post above me says to get more room? I wasn't looking to mess up my alignment, but will do if I have to.

Ps. I already stripped the castle nut on the tie rod being a dumbass :shhh: :notgood: :sosad:

Yeah, if the 1g setup is similar to the 2g setup, all you need to do it unbolt the upper joint from the knuckle. That should allow you to pull the knuckle towards you and give you enough room to pull it out of the transmission.

Undooing the knuckel top or bottom will not affect the alingment in any way shape or form. If you don't you will be sitting there untill thanksgiving trying to get it out.

With a 1g you just have to take out the two bolts that connect the strut to the knuckle. Surprisingly simple when you look at it. :D
