I got a 92 AWD tranny and theres an axle thats stuck in the transmission. I tried prying on the cup with a screw driver and it doesnt come out. I tried using a chisel to wedge between the trans and the axle and didnt want to start hitting on it to hard before I found out something about this. Can someone help me I cant get it out seemingly.

big prybar.

He is correct also it shouldnt be stuck in to bad unless you ran it very low for a long time. the only thing that sould be holding it in is the ring clip on the end of the axle to hold it from sliding out of the differential.

A large prybar will have it out it one or two tries. Ive used the screwdriver approach and it can literally take hours.

Since you're awd it's gotta be the passenger side.If you remove the reinforcement plate for the lower controll arm it will give you a better angle at it.But if you've already removed it,some axles are harder than others,so try a bigger screw driver or pry bar and give it a kick.

Like everyone said, I always use a big pry bar and just give it a kick a couple times and should come right out.

It was the pass. side for me too, and im FWD. If it wont come out still, just take off the boot. Be carefull not to ruin the (orange) clip, as you can reuse it. When you goto put the axle back in, just make sure the clip is really tight and you re-filled the boot with the appropriate grease.

I just got my Axle out and the best method is the screwdriver and twist method.

tools needed:

Flathead Screw Driver
Vice Grips

Drive the screwdriver in between the trans and the axle.
lock vice grips to screwdriver and twist.
came out on the first try.

Unless something is really fubar'd, this process is very easy:

1.) Obtain large sledge hammer
2.) Obtain prybar or long flatblade screw-driver
3.) Get the prybar or screwdriver wedged between axle and tranny, and smack the bejesus out of it with the hammer. One hit should do the trick.
