Calgary,
I can get a JDM 46G3T with tranny included for $1500 CDN. Is it worth it? How hard would it be to drop in the same engine. My car is a 90 TSi.

I'm not to sure if its a FWD or AWD tranny however.

If it's JDM, I'm almost positive they're all AWD. Why are you swapping out your motor? Also, without a custom EPROM chip or DSMLink, you won't be able to control the butterflys in the Cyclone manifold.

My motors getting worn out. And I don't know if I want to go for the rebuild path. It has 240,000+ kms on it and its starting to show its age. Compression wise, 110, 110, 90, 90. :(
So you are saying I should get a dsmlink as well?

All of the JDM 4g63T's were in awd vehicles. For 1500 your better off just buying a rebuilt shortblock. Unless you need other parts from the JDM engine, it's just not worth it. I've bought a lot of JDM Galant front clips, but I always use a lot of parts other than the engine.

I had a buddy got this route on his 6 bolt swap and after he spent the 1500 or so on the motor he fired it up and it smoked a bit then slowly more and more. He had to have the head rebuilt and the turbo swapped out for bad seals. So why they tell you it will only have 30K on it there is no way to confirm it. I spent roughly 2200.00 on my freshj rebuild and after all was said and done I only spent about 200-400 more than he did and I have a fresh motor that I am not questioning. Now this also depends on how good the machine shops in your area are and how good you feel about building a motor from the short block up.
