ok im in the process of rebuilding my motor (95 GST), and im almost ready to put it back together.
What i would like to know is which way would be easier/or better to put it back in the car; assembling the complete short block with tranny dropping that in, then putting the head/intake manifold/exhaust manifold/etc... on, and then hooking everything up/timing?
Or assemble the complete longblock outside of the car do the timing and then drop it in as a whole?

If someone with experience with this could give some insight it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

ok so assemble it completly outside of the car and then drop the whole thing in. and hook everything up?

And that way is easier?

Yes it is the easiest way to do it. Put the trans on the long block with both manifolds and the turbo and throw it in there. That's how I have done it on both of my DSMs that needed rebuilds. Good Luck.

If you need a "why" or for future searches, there are a ton of reasons to do it this way...the main reason for me is the fact that its 10000 times easier to do the timing belt job with the motor out of the car...lots of other "little" things but thats enough reason for me. I just thought id say why, instead of us just telling you to do it this way or that way
