Hey,

I was driving after replacing the cover plate on my transmission. I was driving it before with no problems before I had to pull it off because the JB weld I used to cover up the hole didn't hold. Before you start diagnosing the transmission for problems, know that it has been fixed and there have been no problems since the rebuild.

While driving I hear a whining noise which is dependent on speed. I can switch gears and engage the clutch with no change to the sound, it only gets louder when I accelerate, and quieter when I decelerate.

No idea what it is.. but I can only guess that it could be the transfer case or something with the axles.

Can anyone help?

Thanks for reading,
Cameron

Where is the sound coming from? Front, rear, left side, right side? The sound could be a wheel/hub bearing that is bad. Friends non DSM used to make a whining/rubbing noise and we needed to replace the rear hub because the bearings were shot.

Actually I'm thinking it might be the transmission seeing as it won't go into reverse and it kicks me out of gears occasionally. I'll check the shift cables too.
