So I have a problem that's driving me crazy I've done endless searching and cannot figure it out. I am posting here because I don't have the posts required to post elsewhere but I am not new to these cars I just don't post a whole lot.

I have a 95 tsi awd with a 6 bolt swap and I just put a new transmission in (used). I got it running and while rolling out of the drive way I heard a popping or clunking that I could hear and feel through the whole car but its random not constant. It was most audible in the front passenger to start with so I inspected some parts and the cv had some wear signs so I replaced it and the lower straight arm ball joint was completely shot so I replaced that. It took the noise out of the front passenger mostly but its still there in the rest of the drive train. Now when I accelerate its not these but as soon as I let off the gas it gets worse and more constant.
I put it up on all fours and took it to 3rd at about 45mph and I hear no word noises. Any ideas? Carrier bearings seem to be good.

Transfer case is from the old transmission it is a 95 96 t case and transmission is a 96
I ran the vin on the trans and did the turn test on the t case to be sure.

U joints don't have any play just checked. Now the rear upper arm bushings are almost completely gone but I don't know if that would cause this.

Well I've put the exhaust into consideration which is a possibility it just feels worse than that but I guess it is a 3 inch exhaust so anything is possible.

Hmm while under the car reinstalling the t case (pulled to inspect) I looked at the front motor mount and the rubber is split through the thick part so I'm gonna go run and pick up a new one. Only around 20 bucks for me anyway ( I work at autozone :) ) don't know if its the problem but it sure will cause some problems.

Well big update I think the rear end may be shot. I took it out again tonight after replacing that mount and a very loud howling/whining started and as I was limping it back to the garage the back wheels started skidding on and of just in short bursts everytime I pushed the clutch in the car stopped like I applied the brakes.
Pretty sure thats a sign of a bad rear end. Funny thing is the car never did this a few months ago when it was on the road, BUT my friend I got it from had a hole blow through the bellhousing on the trans he had in it so I wonder if its been a problem that wasn't showing it self before and cause him to lose his old trans.

Any way I am going to do some searching on where to go from now any advice is welcome.
