Ok so I have plenty of experience with fwd cars but none with awd. That being said I have a 91 tsi that recently had a tranny and transfer case put in it by a shop because I didn't have any of my tools here and I needed my car for work. The next day I noticed the t-case had a slow leak. I have the old trans and t-case because it was originally removed because of what was thought to be diff problems but after the shop had already bolted up the other ones they notice the axle had broke inside the boot right after the cup.

Question 1: can somebody explain where the center diff is located because I was under the impression it was in the t-case.

Question 2: the seal in the old t-case is still fine. Can I just bolt that one back up instead of rebuilding my other one right now?

Question 3: under hard acceleration I get what feels like a inconsistent vibration near the rear of the car and not sure where to start trouble shooting....

Engine is mildly built to include BC stage 2 cams, turbonetics 62-1, fic 850 injectors, and evo internals in the head on 22 psi. Any help would be greatly appreciated since I have all my tools here now and don't feel like dropping another close to $1000 bucks in my car for what IMO wasn't the greatest work done by a shop.

Bearing in the axle? I was aware of u joints but not bearings.....

Presumably he's referring to the driveshaft carrier bearings.

Center different is located between the two axle holes.

That's the front diff. The center diff is located inline with the transfer case input shaft.

Thanks for the clarification Steve that's what I was assuming after reading. Should there be any play at all in those carriers? Also, rebuild kits/replacements? The rear shaft was removed when I got the car and I did notice one boot had a minor tear in it.
