I'm working on a friends AWD swapped spyder and he just got his driveshaft back from being rebuilt by a shop. The problem he's had with the yolks (this is the second one) is the retaining clips as seen in the video. They aren't sitting perfectly due to the model of driveshaft. Apparently this is a different driveshaft than what the yolk is designed for? Not 100% sure.

Either way, what do you guys think about those retaining clips? Take it back and have it redone or run it as is? It's only those 2 clips with the issues. The other 2 on the yolk are great. This is the second yolk that he's gone through trying to make the retainin clips fit. Anyone run into this before?

Yoke isn't centered yet. Look at the gap when he flips it over to show the other retaining clip.

I use a vise with a small socket between the vise and the yoke. Tighten it up and the other clip should go in.

Wow, some fine work they did! Sadly it's not uncommon, I've seen that quality come from 'driveshaft shops'.

If it were me I would get on the phone with JNZtuning and get OEM coming. Reason being is OEM comes with 4 different sizes of the clips. Most aftermarket only have one set, and it's either too loose or too tight. Forcing them to fit is not a good idea, and it won't last more than 6 months even for a DD. It's somewhat an art, and there's a reason a lot of factory sealed ujoints last 100k+. Mitsubishi supplies 4 different clips to center the ujoint also.

If you can't get that other clip in with the socket method mentioned above, it's probably not a good idea to try past that but that's just me.
