ok so i was under my car today and saw tons of gear oil splashed all over where the yoke meets the transfer case and all over my exhaust and underneath my car...ive seen it before and i thought i fixed it...i put rtv down inside the yoke and let it sit over night like i saw on here in a forum...didnt fix it...and i can my driveshaft/yoke pulls in and out of the transfer case...not all the way but there is serious movement...is this normal? how do i fix this and my gear oil leak...please help!

Your seal could be out or the 100,000 + mile yolk could be wore out. This is an easy fix and you can order the whole kit with a new seal to replace it.
Here is the link to a tech article I posted that will walk you through the process. I would suggest replacing the yoke and the output seal on the transfer. :thumb:

The yoke was the part that was recalled years ago. The recall is long gone. Typically if you see stuff slung about it's the yoke (not yolk). They are cheap and come with a new ujoint. Seal is always a good idea at the same time. Ignore this and risk death, no joke.

The yoke that mitsu puts out is with a brand new u joint is only 35 bucks. That yoke is the yoke for the recall fix. If you ever need u joints go that route. Just the u joint alone is like 80 bucks.
But it sounds like your seal is out. Let's us know how it goes.

The recall may be long gone but the recall kits are still available. In fact, you can get the yoke and u-joint for 30+ bucks cheaper than just buying a U-joint. While the recall may be gone, pick up the recall kit and seal and be done with the problem. Start at 5:45 in the link that I posted above to get the Mitsu part numbers for the seal and recall kit.

You uploaded a link to your shopping cart. Please go to the link that I posted to get the exact part number (start at 5:45) or look a few post up for the seal part number that a fellow member posted.

you said you can move the yoke right? how do your rear differential bushings look? as well as the carrier bearings, and u-joints.
I had the same t-case problem you are having and when i replace the yoke and the seal i made sure everything was nice and tight.

You created this thread about a week ago, and i hope you are not driving the car with the t-case leaking!!

That pic on the website is for a drivers side axle seal. The part number is correct for the tcase output.

I just did this repair myself. Sad to say my car should have had the recall performed early on instead of the inspection it actually received. Problem is the car was only 4 months old at the time.
