Ok so I just pick up a new yoke to replace the old leaky one :) Does any body have any sugggestions or an easy button for the job? Also it came with 8 c clips where do these go? Do i have to drop the whole driveshaft or caan i just drop it at the u joint?

Like Jake said, the VFAQ pretty much covers it. Drive Shaft Rebuild

I used a couple of sockets and the big c-clamp on the first one but decided to buy a press at HF to do all the rest and make quick work of changing all the u-joints.

All you need to do is pull the transfer case to do the yoke.

I heated mine up with a torch then beat on the yoke itself to push one bearing out then clamped the other way and beat the drive shaft to push out the other bearings of the u-joint. May not be to helpful but it took me all of 15 minutes.

That's about how long it took using the sockets and big c-clamp. The hardest part was removing the old c-clip since they tend to be rusted in place. On the press it takes maybe 5 mins.

I could only get the thinnest of the c-clips to fit on install.

The yoke on my drive shaft was leaking to and i found out that there was a recall on my vehicle that was never completed, so when i called the dealership they replaced it and they also replaced something in the transfer case. Your car may have never completed the recall and you might be able to get it replaced at the dealership for free.

Good luck with a 1st gen.

Oh, if you plan on rebuilding the entire driveshaft be careful with the lobro joint.
You need to disassemble it to remove the bearing supports.
