Dripping sound in oil pan during boost pressure test? Help!

So I installed a 1g BOV today and did a BLT and found to my horror that I hear a dripping sound coming from what seems to be the oil pan.

I have read a couple other threads but none of them seem to nail down what this could be.



I also have gotten poor fuel mileage ~18mpg city and the car seems revs to 2-3K when i start it and it is warm.

may be unrelated but thought I should include it.

Any ideas?

IT sounds like air is going past the seals in the turbo and thru the drain line.

Check and see how much oil is in the car. I have seen scenario's where it sounds like the oil is dripping in the oil pan when the car is low on oil. Just a thought.

A way you can test if its the seals on the turbo is;
A) test after the turbo.
B) check shaft play.

If it still gurgle's then...

If "A" do a compression check.
If "B" has "excessive" play or thrust, your seals are bad on the tubo and you need a rebuild. Ask justin.

I vote on bad seals though.

It is normal for turbos to leak air under static pressure test since their is no oil pressure against the seals.

Test after the turbo to make sure it isn't your rings or valve seals.

As long as your turbo is not burning oil or have excessive shaft play your fine.

How could rings or valve seals cause a dripping sound?

There shouldn't be enough oil in the valve seals or rings to make it sound like dripping correct?

Also, the car pulls 20" of vacuum at idle so I am guessing it isn't rings...

The compressed air you're putting in your turbo/intake system is causing the gurgling sound because all that air is going past the seals on the turbo and down to your oil pan/crankcase and causing oil to bubble in there.

Bubbling no, but it would cause you to hear a leak out of the oil cap. Its probably your turbo and its normal aslong as its not burning oil or has shaft play.
Even new turbos will do it.

I need to go out and check for shaft play. Haven't done that yet. Not exactly sure how but I am sure there is a how to somewhere on this site.

I guess I did a BLT on my last DSM with stock snail and it didn't do the same thing....

There did seem to be some oil in the upper intercooler piping underneath the BOV which was concerning to me So I am not sure what that means...

Also I did not take off the oil cap i pulled out the dip stick and that was how I determined that it was a dripping from the oil pan.
