I did a boost leak test today and air leaked out of the the valve cover almost instantly. I can hre air flowing prety loudly around the cam gear area. I have the crank at 30 degrees past TDC. What would be causing this or are there any trouble shooting methods?

Thanks

It could possibly be a bad pcv valve allowing air to come in from the intake manifold to the valve cover. There inexpensive to replace but to completely elimate that problem, I would buy a check valve from u.s plastics.

I moved the boost leak tester to the throttle body and found that the PCV valve that connects to the Intake manifold was letting a lot of the air into the crankcase. I am going to replace the PCV Valve as well as buy an additional check valve per the PCV System tech article.

The next test I did was disconnect that PCV valve and re-hook the boost leak tester to the Turbo, air was leaking into the crank case through the turbo seal. I do not have white smoke coming out of my tail pipe. My question is how do you know if too much air is getting into the crankcase through the turbo?

will excessive crank case pressure from bad turbo seals be a power loss?

because i have crank case pressure.
I have a check valve so i know its not the pcv valve.

my car only goes up to 10 psi and quickly drops to 5.
are bad turbo seals the cause of this..?

i know it could also be the valve stem seals..

but i am curious, if the turbo seals would have this effect on my car.

turbo does spool but i feel a huge power loss.

If your car is cold air could also be going around the piston rings and into the crank case and thats why you will get air in there. try warming your car up to normal temp then doing a boost leak test and see if it helps the air in the crank case. It should
