thanks guys.........

I bought mine new, and one of those dome lights - on the driver's side - started having problems a few years after I bought it. I could whack the ceiling with my fist and get it to come on for a while, but then that stopped working (probably a loose wire). Maybe something like that happened to yours, too. I'm interested if anyone explains more about the dome light, as I'd pretty much forgotten about it and wouldn't mind fixing it.

Usually the problem is the door switches are bad or not making a good connection to ground. When the door opens the ground signal is sent to the ETACS-ECU (located on the back side of the inside fusebox) which has a timer circuit and controls the fading of the dome and foot lights. If this is bad find a used one as a new one will not be cheap.

Did you get the problem fixed?
My dome lights do not work. Every other light works and fine. Dims out in the 6seconds and if the door opens or closes they turn on/off respectively. The dome lights do not work if I turn them on manually or by switch. What could be the cause?

mine works if i open the trunk but not for the doors, but my buttons up top work. Maybe we can put our cars together and get lights LOL.

I've got the same problem w/my driver's side door - no lights. Pass side and hatch work fine. Haven't had a chance to look into the switch inside the door, but I hope I can just clean it up a bit...

Yup, I did that cleaned it up sprayed WD and nothing. I know the switch is not the cause, even though the other lights sometimes turn on, but thats the cause of the switch, I will replace it soon. I do know that the switch is NOT the cause of the Dome light not working.

i was wondering, i have a 1g with the annoying auto seat belts. whatever the seat belts are run off of knows when the door is opened or closed, i never looked any wiring up or anything at all but does any one think you could tape into these lines, because my door pins don't work either, but my seat belt one works. just a suggestion
