Dominator EFI ECU has anyone tried it

Have not seen any posts on this item. It claims to support turbo, superchargers etc....even has some form of boost control.

Self learning fuel trim via a WB O2 sensor.

Cost is about $1700 but considering the age of our ECUs and the knowledge needed to tinker with them via a laptop it seems like a good product.

Example: to run a Link system you need a good ECU, the Link, preferably a wideband O2, a laptop, and a cable to connect the Link to the laptop. Cost would be somewhere around $800 $1200 or so for a system of this type and every time you make a change you have to go back in and adjust the ECU.

Wouldn't a Dominator be a good investment?

I know a couple local folks with ls motor cars using the Holley ecu and haven't heard any of them complaining about it. But I don't personally know of anybody with a dsm using it.
 
I am seriously thinking about buying this. 30 each, 0-5V sensor inputs! Wow! And it's self learning/tuning via a WBO2!

It will toggle between E-85 and normal gas, or you can get a ethonal sensor and let the computer take care of it. Just like a factory flex cue car.

I cannot believe no one else has thought of this.

And my car would not be so finicky about boost leaks, because it appears almost everything is tuned off of the WBO2.

Another thing I want to try is this units ability to go SFI. It can fire each injector individually. Different than MPFI I guess
 
How do you plan on providing crank and cam triggers? Have you thought about all the other sensors, are they compatible or will you have to run holley specific sensors? With my experience using "self learning" fuel mapping, it doesn't react quick enough and/or enters overshoot/undershoot oscillations.

It just seems like a pretty good alternative to my 20 year old ECU?

It says at top:

Holley EFI systems have certain compatibility requirements in regards to crankshaft and camshaft speed and position inputs. Due to the vast signal differences that OEM applications use, many OEM crank and camshaft sensor input strategies are not Currently compatible with Holley HP and Dominator EFI systems.

They have a list of cam and crank sensors that are compatible but I do not know if ours are on the list or not....do we have:

can be used with typical “1 pulse per cylinder firing” crank triggers or distributor
crankshaft speed inputs (Hall Effect or magnetic)

For sequential fuel injection, a 1x cam signal input, which must be timed appropriately, can be used. (Hall Effect)

And if my grandma had wheels, she'd be a wagon.
There's plenty of already proven-to-work-with-a-DSM solutions out there, all of which have driven the ECU to make massive power.
I wouldn't put a laptop in the calculation for cost anyway. This thing is not going to be "set it and forget it forever" regardless of what they may have you believe.

You want all these features, but your knowledge of tuning is limited, hence the need for self tuning. You are a perfect candidate for dsmlink. Easy interface, and 1,000,000x the support for our platform.

I cannot argue with anything you have stated. I have ECM Link and it is very very good. I was just looking around for something that supports more sensor inputs. I am maxed out right now with a omni 3bar and a WBO2.

Well kinda maxed out. Dont want to get rid of my MAF, EVAP, or Temp inputs to put a fuel pressure sensor on.

I can remove my NBO2 and simulate it to wire up the fuel pressure sensor but I kinda like my NBO2.
 
1g ecu has a auto tune feature now. using all new custom code and a ostrich 2.o the ecu is not completely able to tune ant part of the 've table as the user wants. and considering any tuning solution you need a wb o2 and laptop we can't factored that into the price. but at 175 dollars for a ostrich 2.0 I would rather use that extra money elsewhere
 
Self learning LOL... That is called fuel trims... Damn near every ECU out there has a self learning feature. Shit with link get the car to start, get the idle fuel trims in check, take a log, and right click on the log, MAF adjust FT, walla!!! Self learned.

this is a horrible idea and op your overpricing the cost of dsmlink vs this which would need a wide band as well, and still not get nearly as good of a tune. I guarantee you will make less hp with it then with a good tune on dsmlink.
 
MS3 Pro has auto tune, at cruise and at idle. If you don't recognize that as the same thing as SELF TUNING...then there's not much to be said. I've used it many times.

Keep in mind that if you spend 1700 on this system, you'll have ZERO tech support available, because nobody uses it.

This is very interesting. So I went to their website and downloaded their manual and looked at the system. I could not find a reference in the first 99 pages referring to self or auto tuning. That being said it is a very interesting system that I will definately look into. Thanks
 
Your prices for link are crazy a lil smart shopping will get ya the link formuch cheaper....mine had a old used v2 I got upgraded to v3 for 200 bucks n a old laptop off craigslist for cheap. Had it tuned once a few years ago never touched it since.

It's not in the hardware, it's in the software ;).
tunerstudio is what you need to download, and it's called "Live VE Analyze". As you drive, it compares your wideband AFRs to the target table, and makes changes on the fly. It's pretty damn accurate too :).

Tunerstudio is great, does work very well and just as good as any other auto/self tune/learn. I just have ms2 on my colt and the autotune got it fired up and driving quickly. It'll even autotune your warm up enrichment curves.

Nothing will be plug in and floor it at full boost and your ready to make peak hp, so don't get that idea.
 
You can buy AEM infinity for like 1300 bucks and it would stomp this processor... With that computer you can plug it in, get it to start, target an AFR, and stomp the pedal to the floor its that fast.

So with that being said......is the AEM Infinity 8/10 worth the price for what it offers? And how flexible is the tuning and learning curve of this full ECM?
 
You realize there's other inputs you can use with link. If you only have a wb and map your not maxed LOL. Atleast 2-3 (corrected depending on your setup) more inputs you can use if 2g. Also ecmlink comes with a cable so no extra cost there bud. And it's only like $545 for v3 and $40 for a socket job if you already have a EPROM ecu. It's also really easy to use and get help with and unless your over 1000hp and running 8's I don't see the need for anything else. Even then you probably are ok LOL. Also with link once your tunes down there's not really much needed to be changed. Even when I race there's not much to be done once it's dialed in. Is it really that stressful to click enter to save a change and wait 2 whole seconds LOL.
