Well guys, As some of you may know, after having my car for about 2 weeks, I spun a rod bearing in my motor with 74k miles. Damn 7 bolts!, Had full oil, just my oil pressure has been low since I got the car

Pics here:

I took the 7 bolt engine out already....

Saturday I'm picking up a 6 bolt complete engine from a forum member... 95k miles and 160-165 compression across...

Comes with everything, head, valve cover, timing cover, flywheel, block, etc...

Now what is all involved with a 6 bolt swap.... I have a 98 gst

What do I need to do for the cam angle sensor and crank angle sensor????

Putting the complete 6 bolt engine in...

I have to modify the timing side motor mount??? cut it???

Switch the plug wire order??

What I need to know is what is all involved what all do I need to know, I have a complete 7bolt from the car, and the 6 bolt coming, Hopefully I can get this done within a low budget...

Some things I will be doing before I drop it in is, Balance Shaft removal kit, New timing belt (what Kinda belt should I get????, Can i get it from extreme PSI?)

I have the flywheel coming with the motor, my act2600 will work right???

Lemme know guys, Any help/comments are appreciated!

Also I have all the stuff from my 7 bolt for sale, good head and good block and whatnot (still fully assembled), just lemme know if you need anything, Ill sell it super cheap...

Thanks guys!

Well lets try to pick off a few

Timing belt side motor mount (left side of car)
You must remove the mount from your 7-bolt engine from its attachment point on the engine block. Install on your 6-bolt motor. You will need to remove the timing belt for this, and you will need to notch the mount bracket to clear the water pump.

You will need a 1G CAS (preferably a 90 stlye with the pigtail harness) This is not manditory but it is eaiser. You can no longer use your crank angle sensor from your 7-bolt.
The 1G CAS will provide all signals necessary to replace the 2G cam and crank sensors. Check the Magnus site for wiring diagrams.

Have your newly aquired 6-bolt flywheel re-surfaced.

The plug wire orientation will depend on which wiring method you use. In its basic form the 1G CAS will provide an inverted signal, but there are ways around this.

I used these two sites while doing the 6 bolt swap in my car. Both are very informative and will let you know pretty much everything that is involved with the swap.

Also as far as the plug order there are a few options you can use, I believe they're listed on the magnus website. I personally use dsmlink and would definately recommend it if you're going to start changing your fuel curves, timing, etc.
If you have need any more help let me know.

Going to do a few things before I drop it in, Like timing belt and make sure I have a LOWER TIMING COVER on this car.

Also doing Balance shaft removal (any suggestions or help on this?)

Should I really get the flywheel stepped or trued or whatever? how much does that usually cost, and who can do it? any machine shop?

what if it's in nice condition....

Should My 1g motor Have a CAS if it comes with head and stuff?

thanks guys

The flywheel you have on your car will not work with the six bolt motor. Theres seven bolt holes on your flywheel and 6 holes on the new engine. So you'd have to find a new or used (good condition) one to use.
If you're getting the full motor the CAS should be included. Also find out what year the motor is. Theres three different CAS's you can use . Supposedly the black top is the best

That's what I was asking, the Motor comes with a 6 bolt flywheel, someone told me to get it resurfaced tho.....

There are basicly four types of stock turbo flywheels

6-bolt AWD & FWD
7-bolt AWD & FWD

If the motor your going to use came out of a 6-bolt awd car, and your car is a 7-bolt awd car then it will work fine. If it again came from a 6-bolt awd car and your car is a 7-bolt fwd car then no it will not work, you will need to find a 6-bolt awd flywheel.

Yes you should have the flywheel re-surfaced.

Uner your profile it says you have a GST front wheel drive correct? If it is then you will need a turbo 6 bolt fwd flywheel. You're going to HAVE to change the flywheel if you are using your 2g transmission.

Yeah the motor was from an all-wheel-drive. Why will the flywheel not work in my FWD car, I thought the only thing changed was the weight of the flywheel....

I also need an oil cooler, as the motor did not come with one.. .Anyone have one?

Not to be a dick, but did you try searching? This has been covered at least 1 time.

Someone sell me a flywheel! or I will trade my AWD one and the clutch for a FWD flywheel

The FWD and AWD flywheels have differnt size ring gears. You will also need to use a FWD shim or spacer (sorry don't know exact trem) that fits between the engine block and the transmission. This is beacuse the location of the starter bolt holes on the FWD shim/spacer are differnt than the AWD one. The one from your 7-bolt motor should work fine. Just make sure that you swap it to your new motor.
