Does this coupler look like water can get inside?

This coupler is pissing me off its 2.5" pipe is 2.5" clamp 2.5" ok so when i start to tighten up more and more on the coupler i notice the end of the coupler flexs out like in the pictures but as i start to loosin it it closes up?

but i tried my hardest to pull the pipe off and no way its goin anywhere but im thinkin when it rains water is getting inside the end because how its opened and possibly being sucked in the pipes when i drive the car? should i try using a bigger clamp like 2.75" maybe?

Either your coupler is too big or your pipe is too small, depends on your personality there. If the clamp is tight, water probably won't get it but one of those needs to be fixed. An extreme angle will has the same issue. If it is a straight coupler then the pipe going to it should be straight into it.

Before rain water could ever work it's way into your intercooler piping, your car would have a giant boost leak at that location.

If you do a boost leak test and there is no air escaping, there is no rain water getting in, either.

yea true but im thinkin i should get a elbow coupler since that pipe does that huge turn and then maybe it will seal real well?

That bulge is just from the coupler being extremely tight. A couple of mine look like that, and I can promise you there is no water getting into that unless your car runs like shit. That pipe is boost, so it would be pushing air out not sucking water in.

well thats what i was thinkin i went to tight but from my experience i dont want a coupler comming off man does it suck when that happens especially when u dont got tools in the car LOL and that pipe connects to my jpipe.

isn't that the same thing?:hmm:...just kidding.

anyways OP like stated you should be fine...looks gnarly though

As stated, if there is no boost leak there, no water is going to get in. But if it bothers you that much, move the clamp more towards the end of the coupler, then tighten it, and it shouldent flare out anymore.

As stated it is normal for ends to flex like that. When you compress the rubber with the clamp it makes it thiner displacing the thickness to the out side of the clamp. Thus causing the out side to curl it does the same to the inside it is just not noticeable.
